With a new week of Speedhunting ready to kick off, it’s time to take a quick look at some of our favorite videos from the past seven days.
Let’s kick things off where we ended last week, and that’s with Blackbird’s Automotive new Group 5 short film series, The Breakfast Club…
The second episode in the series focuses on the legendary Porsche 917K and its domination of endurance racing from 1970 to 1971. The Group 5 racer was a revolutionary machine in many aspects, from its 12-cylinder engine (Porsche’s first), through to its extensive use of exotic materials in magnesium, titanium and aluminium. EKanoo Racing has done it again. Running their quickest sport compact drag machine in North America has always been on the cards for the Bahrain-based team, and their USA tour couldn’t have started any better at Orlando Speed World Dragway in Florida. While Formula Drift Round 3 was going down just over the fence, Gary White was steering the EKanoo Racing Pro Import GT86 to a new US import record of 5.89 @ 245mph.
The Hakone Turnpike in Japan needs little introduction here on Speedhunters; it’s one of our all-time favourite driving roads, and is beautiful to boot. We’ve got a behind-the-scenes story on Motorhead magazine’s latest hillclimb event from Hakone coming very soon to the site, but before that happens, this stunning new short film from McLaren Automotive featuring the 650S Spider should tide you over nicely.
Finally this week, it’s an oldie but a goodie: Roger Feghali in the Motortune Racing Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution, breaking the Falougha Hill Climb record in Lebanon last year. We’re not sure what we love most about this clip – the sound of the Evo’s anti-lag equipped 4G63, or Roger’s aggressive driving style. Perhaps it’s both in equal amounts…

LukeEVOVIII I'm a long time fan of the EVO series, but I wouldn't claim it to be the king of the Japanese domestic market.
However, I do believe both the EVO and the Impreza exist in their own world. I don't like comparing an EVO to a GT-R because they're different cars. But the long rivalry between the EVO and Impreza is something so special that I believe one can not exist without the other. Besides, that's something that makes both these cars great for their owners.
That is internet gold.
