We don’t have to tell you how far drifting’s come since its humble beginnings on the touge roads and small club circuits of Japan. But despite its commercialism and everything that’s come with it, there are those that still prescribe to the motorsport’s original fundamentals and drive for nothing more than sheer fun of it – more often than not with their friends holding close proximity.
Held at US Air Motorsports Raceway in Shawano, Wisconsin, the recent Final Bout II celebrated everything that’s great about drifting, and fittingly, Will Roegge from Keep Drifting Fun was there to capture the essence of the event in glorious 4K. Final bout is amazing. I have been, and will be preparing my team and I for the road trip to Wisconsin next summer. I have a question though. I understand the concept of Final Bout, but is the event just open track, or is there any judging? For example, is there a judged portion for a team type competition? Either way, I can't wait to hit the track next summer. Watch out for team "Beater Bombs".
Yea. There is a team tandem competition, it was held from 1pm to about 4pm on Saturday (Sunday morning last year). It's a very simple format, 2 runs per team, then top 4, two more runs, then top 3. No points or silly run breakdown, the judges simply decide who had the most exciting runs. The competition is judged based on 50% "car show", 50% competition runs. Aka your cars must be as cool as your driving.
Dammit! Looks like project car #4: Tokyo drift is inevitable. Off to craigslist.

I love events like this. Its all about having fun and friendly competition. Grassroots drifting is way better than pro level!
