Forgive me if I get all emotional here, but I really do love photography. It’s the perfect medium. It transcends language barriers and allows us to communicate something that words can often do no justice to.

You don’t even need to be trained in the art of photography to be able to capture a moment.

With the rise and rise of technology, you don’t even need a dedicated camera these days either.

Although some will bemoan the advent of Instagram and the likes, I think it’s one of the best things to happen in modern photography in some time.

Yes, some of the filters are cheesy but it’s not about the kitsch, it’s about getting people taking photographs again.

Instagram is a gateway to a purer form of photography.

It’s not even just about capturing a moment but saving it, sharing it and having it to hand any time you want.

I’ve often found myself aimlessly exploring old photographs I’ve taken trying to re-ignite moments that I have forgotten about.

There’s so much more to a photograph than what we can see.

There’s often a story, a journey  or a feeling behind each click of the shutter. A story waiting to be told if you will.

Other times, what you see is what you get. Not a bad thing either.

When was the last time you stopped and took the time to go back through some old photographs?

I think you’ll be surprised at what you’ve already forgotten about, memories which can only be restored because of a photograph.

Take your time, enjoy life and remember to keep shooting.
