When Charles asked the Speedhunters team to come up with our list of great overtaking manoeuvres, it was this particular pass that flashed into my mind's eye. It's widely considered one of the more popular passes in F1 history.
The scene was the 1987 British GP, where these two racing icons, Nelson Piquet and Nigel Mansell were well into their second, bitter year as warring team mates. Piquet was keen to humiliate Mansell in front of his home crowd, but the Lion himself had other ideas, and attacked the Brazilian down the Hanger straight at the entry to Stowe. Look closely and you will see Mansell fake a move to his left, thus drawing Piquet to open up the inside line. Nigel then immediately thrusted right in a second move; appearing beside the Piquet too quickly for a second blocking manoeuvre to be completed.
He was through and went on to win the event, much to the delight of the assembled crowd.
Watch and learn kiddies!

As much as I like the Beatles... I'll take the sound of an oldschool formula one car over any of their number one hits any day of the week.
