Random Snap>> Tamaki Ryuji’s Ek Hatch

Hello from Japan! Today was certainly full on. We arrived at Suzuka Motorland for a practice drift day just before lunch, which turned out to be very quiet with only a couple of Japanese drifters out on track. In saying that, it was a perfect opportunity for us gaijins to test out our cars and have some fun before competing in the Origin Meihan competition. After Suzuka we spotted this EK Civic hatch, which is an example of Japan's interpretation of the 'USDM' style. It's no doubt different!

OMFG!!! love it <3

2

Dat camber

3

Ugh, its so unfortunate that this trend has made it over seas. Hopefully it doesnt catch on, and spread like a disease like in the US

4

This "Hellaflush"-stance hype needs to die ASAP.

5

All I can focus on in this picture is 147 yen for a Liter of gas.

*does some quick calculations...*

That amounts to (O_O) $6.80 USD for a gallon of gas!

Regular at that!

GOD LAWD!

Im afraid to ask how much 91octane Premium is!

6

That looks ridiculous... Hate it.

7

What ever happened to function>form?

8

147 yen is about $1,80 not 6,80

9

looks like a busted broke down civic to me.

10

not a fan but to each their own, those tail lights are kinda funky...

11

wouldn't mind those rear lenses too! and those rims look like BBS! - sweet.

[via NuggetG60YorkshireUK's computer]

12

looks like the axle broke, dont like the camber crap.

13

147 yen is about $1.80. there are .264 gallons in a liter. so it takes 3.8 liters to equal one gallon. 1,8*3.8= 6.81. So bucci-I is correct here Mati, sorry :/

14

in germany you pay about 1.60€ for one L of gas (95/98 octane) -.-

I cant believ that this kind of "tuning" is good for the tyres and the handling... btw. it does't look very well ..

15

SHG_Mike: it originally started in Japan -_-

16

Yeah but $1.80 a *liter* is not $1.80/gal. Not gonna do the math but I'll take his word that it's over $6 lol

Always been a fan of USDM Jam cars from when they were imitating SpoCom, it's a shame that now they're onto this "stance" trend.

Love the all clear tails though... Very 90s throwback and way better than the altezzas

18

holly fucking shit that car WAS LOW MAN HOOLY SHIT DAMN DUDE SHIT!!!!!!!! :o

19

WOW! that looks so clean im liking lots:)

20

that's japan's way of saying... "HAHAHAHAHAHAA AMERICA"

21

That camber!!! What rim and weels size? Looking for a wheel setuo like that...

22

Style points for shutter shades.

23

hellaspring cap?

24

MORE MORE MORE !!! <3

25

ill admit. i only know what "GAIJIN" means because of fast and furious

26

wtf is that hahah

27

funny how this is styled after a terrible (IMO) trend, but I do find it well done, not something I'd drive... I mean... I'd feel bad having that suspension and wheel set up... as if by driving something like that I'd kill kittens and babies

28

"It's no doubt different!".....what the hell are you talking about? No doubt different? I am sick and tired of hypster-JDM wannabe rocking hellaflush shit. Shall we move on?

Not because the gaijin dude is filling up at a random Japanese gas station that this tool deserve a spot light?!?!

Casey, once again you fail !

29

i think the front poke is just about ok but the rear is too cartoon-ish for me, wouldn't mind those rear lenses tho!

30

It's funny how 91 is "premium" somewhere. :D We can only buy 95 and 98 here, most buy 98 nowadays.

31

And Im guessing that would be $1.80 for a litre, not a gallon.

32

It's at a petrol station, so I can only pray that soon after this picture it was engulfed in a ball of fire and it ceased to exist.

What a ridiculous looking excuse for a car.

33

Are those window shutters in the back??

34

Looks like shit.

35

What da? woooh nice honda civic!

awesome lo ward car i like that!

36

Horrible car with horrible camber. Go away.

37

@mati:

>147 yen is about $1,80 not 6,80

But only for a liter, not a gallon.(see above)

1 US gallon = 3.79 liter

However, I was at the gas station today morning in Germany: 1,60 Euro per Liter, which means 2,37 US$ per liter or nearly 9 US$ per US gallon

back to the picture:

Like the height, but not the too extreme camber.

Cheers,

Daniel

38

so sick, if you dont like it write your comment on a piece of paper and tie it a balloon.

39

The "Hella Flush/Stance" trend is from the Japan VIP style that started way back...also, even the VW scene in the UK. That trend just took a while to get mainstream here in the US. I lived in Japan before, so that's how I know. Now the trend I'm waiting for to hit in the US is that the performance orientated FWD cars (mainly Honda's) have reverse staggered wheels, i.e. wider wheels/tires in the front usually running 225 tires (even up to 245's!) while the rears are the typical 195/205 setup. I say thats the next trend amongst FWD vehicles.

This EK is pretty clean...a lot of cutting and welding to get that type of camber. This clear tails brings back memories

40

What not to do to a otherwise clean looking Civic.

41

mati: $1.80/L adds up to $7.20/gal - Bucc-i's estimate of $6.80 USD per gallon was actually conservative.

44

Bunch of haters here huh? I think you guys need to chill out. It's obviously got a lot of hard work and time spent on it just for you to bash it needlessly

45

first of all, hellaflush started in Europe. then moved to the US and people rage all over here with the slow hondas, and now its in Japan. who cares if its popular, i like it but im not gona hate on anybody elses style

46

Love the wheels but camber like that gives the car horrible grip under braking. This is just a show/cruising car with whacked out camber settings... useless!

47

Terrible. Nothing VIP about it.

How is that even drivable?

48

It looks nice, but you surly need flat and hole less roads for that. Here in Malta its impossible!

49

Somebody help that poor boy!!!! His rear control arms are broken and need to be replaced!!!!!

50

camber fail

51

STFU and quit crying about how people modify their cars, it ain't even your car. Stop thinking so hard about whats cool and trendy. Just worry about your own shit.

52

OMG TAKE IT DOWN, PLEASE DELETE THIS LIKE IT NEVER HAPPENED. SNAPPED HUB ANYONE?

53

i wonder how this affects those notorious ball-joints. The hella-flush looks cool but this is too much. If you are gonna do this, at least put in air-ride to be able to drive it normally.

54

I'm surprised nobody has yet pointed out the obvious regarding the price difference.. in the US your premium fuel is only 91 Ron.. in Japan their "normal" fuel is at least 100 Ron.. it costs more to refine fuel to higher octane levels, and thats the reason why fuel in the US is so cheap because its so low quality, in the U.K our "normal" fuel is 95 Ron and premium is at least 99 Ron, hence JDM car owners here have to fill up with Premium to get as close to what Japs call normal fuel..

Hope that makes everyone happier I've pointed that out..

55

lol at anyone who thinks this style made it over there finally....demon camber has been going on in japan way longer then the states.

56

I know for a fact that there are way Hondas out there.

Hella Fail.

I love Hondas but not like this.

58

@lak3snak3:

Cool comment bro. Were allowed to express opinions here, positive and negative.

59

Goddamn, stop with the camber fa***try. It only looks good in certain cars, but not anything with 4 wheels.

Rest of the car looks decent.

60

Nice wheels but camber like that wears out the tires very fast and gives the car poor grip under braking. This is just a show/cruising car with some really whacked out camber settings. 2 thumbs down for form and function.

61

Look at what I have started!

OOOOOHHHHH MY!

/George Takei impression

All's I'm saying is, that is the LAST time I complain about 91Ron for $4.55 we got here in California.

(everywhere else in the USA gets (93/95 Ron Premium, I blame Schwarzenegger!)

62

Fuck the haters, car looks fucking awsome! To the people that hate this car/look, is your car on Speedhunters? No, did'nt think so, and it probably never will be with your attitude. Get a life and stop hating.

63

Why do people bitch about Hellaflush? This stuff was all the rage in the 80's back when Zokushas were brapping around Japan. The only difference now (hellaflush/US) is there are more tame FF cars with less awesome/bigger wheels. Then you have the VIP scene in Japan, and more recently, the whole "USDM" thing. IMO the bosozoku/shakotan guys rolled harder and looked a lot better then what you see today. Slammed Hako-Skyline with a 5 foot takeyari exhaust? Yes please!

64

@SHG_Mike

This "trend" you speak of made its way from japan to the us to be exact..i think the bosos/vip car crowd did it first (feel free to correct me if im wrong).

65

this is speedhunting, not hellaflushhunting, can we get back on track here?

66

That looks absolutely ridiculous, some rear camber looks good, but that is just stupid. I don't even want to think about how badly it's affected the way it drivers, either.

67

heRRafrush.

im sorry, but that looks like a damn clown car

68

I rate it. Good on him for doing something different!

69

@ imnotamused - Dood.. any vehicle is a killing machine even if it's a 100hp or a 1000hp, slammed or lifted. it's still drivin' by a human being which can still run people over if they're driving retarded.

@ youwish - What do you mean how is that "drivable"?! How else did he get to a fucking gas station?! it's not like he teleported there.

70

borring

71

Needs MORE camber!!!! haha love it

72

@Dangalang4u

I know what you're talking about with the reverse camber. I remember all the FWD cars on Hot Version's Touge Challenge running reversed camber. The JUN Prelude, all the FWD Spoon cars, etc. I think too many people are overly concerned with "stance" and "fitment" to really focus on getting rid of the understeer that is prevalent on FWD performance cars.

73

That camber isn't that bad, oh my god stfu people :P

It's personal preference, I love it.

74

Some people need to read up on RON and MON before comparing fuel octane values. Idiots.

75

Hate it. The Lady Gaga of the tuning world. . .

Autotune if you will.

You can put an end to this negative camber for syles sake bullshit Speedhunters, please stop posting this stuff.

76

Completely retarded. How anyone can find this goofy, unfunctional, crapy handling polished turd appealing is beyond me.

77

@ JDMyoda dam fucking right man this car is so sick haters are only hating cos they know there own shits weak! also isnt tuning all about originality now days??? or do you haters just want all cars to be gay and look like every one elses car you see round. also i bet in japan where this car is people will dig it hard! so take your negative shit post a pic of you car and we will all hate on that
