Event>>cars & Coffee 1-8-11 Pt.1

Yesterday I gave you guys a bit of a behind the scenes look at my visit to Cars & Coffee on Saturday morning. There was an incredible selection of cars that came out, so I'd like to continue my coverage with a more traditional post from this weekly automotive gathering.

As I mentioned before, Ferrari was the featured marque of the day, and there was a fine selection of prancing horse-badged vehicles in attendance. From super rare classics…

…to more modern models like this 599.

It's not all about high dollar exotics though. How about this FC3S sitting nicely on a set of Works?

When it comes to the numbers – the two most common cars at C&C have to be Corvettes and Porsches. This Speedster was awesome. Love the color and the straps on the front boot!

Great stance on this black E36. Nice and simple.

The award for best patina of the day goes to this Ford pickup without a doubt.

This 240Z looks to have avoided the hands of time since rolling off the showroom in the 1970's. It was for sale by the way!

This Pontiac GTO is sporting a Holden front end conversion and a set of SSR wheels. Very cool.

Here's a car you don't see rolling around too often – an Ultima Can Am. Another one of those cars that must be insane to drive on the street.

Seeing this super clean NSX on Advans got me wondering when Honda is gonna get around to bringing out a street version of the HSV-010 GT.

'69 Mercury Cougar – when you picture "muscle car" in your mind you can't do much better than this.

This slant nose Porsche looks pretty typical, but what are those fellows looking at in the rear?

Oh, it's a small block Chevy swap. I can hear the purists cringing already.

AP2 S2000 with CE28N's and a hard top. This is the way to do it.

This Hemi Dart was generating quite a bit of foot traffic as you can see.

Right hand drive Beetle from Okinawa, Japan. Interesting.

Ferraris weren't the only Italian supercars on hand. Here's one of two LP570-4's that made it out.

Just as things were wrapping up, this Super Duty Pontiac Catalina rolled up with an awesome, lopey cam sound.

I'll finish up with another Porsche shot.. It's a crime to go to Cars & Coffee without posting a photo of a cool old 911.

Back tomorrow with more!

-Mike Garrett

I hope the owner of that Slantnose had a good reason to swap the flat-6 for a typical V8. If the previous engine was dead, then I can kinda understand.

2

Loving that Dato! anyone know where to get those yellow headlight bulbs???

3

Or maybe he enjoyed the driving experience of the old Porsche but wanted a reliable engine with gobs of torque?

4

Mike! Post a heads up next time you roll local in SoCal.

5

that holden faced gto is so strange cause here in australia every second holden has a chevy badge... how about that

6

""This Pontiac GTO is sporting a Holden front end conversion""

ITS JUST A HOLDEN MONARO :P

7

i saw the slant at famoso, pretty impressive, but am worried about his sacrifice in weight distribution

8

I personally think that Slant Nosed Porsches should be burned....

9

I think that V8 911 is often seen at C&Cs.

The conversion was done a couple of years ago,

but it could be another car.

Fuchs wheels don't look good on that speedster 356. What is a real speedster and not a later build?

10

That Lamboooo is beautiful!!

11

i'm not even a purist and i think that slant nose with a chevy is an abomination.

12

i love the Imola orange NSX wow so sexy

13

photo 10 has to be the most gnarly shot of two cars side by side in a carpark ive ever seen. patina'd highboy parked up next door to an ultima... oh my life!!!

14

Awesome event :) Gotta love the High end exotics and Porsche's. Very clean RHD Beetle there!!!

15

good lord that slant nose must understeer its ASS off

16

It's cool to see a Pontiac GTO (Monaro) in the USA with the Holden front end conversion. If i loved over in Cali, I would be bringing my 1970 Holden HG Monaro 308 GTS....aussie muscle :)

17

You can hear the purists cringing? Damn!

18

Those yellow lights on the 510 are not bulbs, they are Bosch driving lights from old Merdedes' Benzes. You can find them at your local junkyards.

19

thats my E36 lol thanks for the shot man!

@mark you can get those yellow bulbs online. most popular is nokya yellow or the luminics jdm yellow. i prefer the luminics over the others. its expensive but it gives it a more of a deeper yellow and will last longer than the nokya from my experience

20

love the exotics of course, bu that GTO is just sick with the SSR's and Holden face!

21

We need more pics of the Fc3s!!

22

that 510 is the cleanest

23

I loveeee that Catalina! You never see those things around. BTW, how much was the owner asking for that Z? Just wondering what a clean example like that might go for. I'm a Pontiac guy but lately I've been having a thing for Datsuns, especially the Z cars.

24

What kind of car is the one in the first picture?

25

Cars and Coffee is always fun. Always a ton of really cool cars there. I think this weekend, I am also headed out to the Pomona Swap Meet. Always some great stuff out there.

26

Australia drives on the left side of the road so its either a GTO with a front end conversion or a Monaro with a LHD conversion. I'd say its a GTO.

27

What's that metallic grey beauty in the first picture...? That car is stunning!!

28

Is that an authentic GT40 behind the RHD Beetle, or one of the new GT's?

29

Hemi Dart FTW !!

30

@Josh Taylor: "Or maybe he enjoyed the driving experience of the old Porsche but wanted a reliable engine with gobs of torque?"

...and massively increased oversteer? That front end better be filled with lead to keep that car from spinning off into the trees.

-

Like the old Ford truck. Christmas lights on the bed... nice touch. And what's that behind the S30? Looks familiar but I can't place it yet.

31

NSX looks great! That S2000 looks great too. Very nicely done.

32

V8 replacing a F6? :O

33

The Superleggera owns all and that slant nose is an extreme failure.

34

i believe thats not just a regular 599 ferrari but the new 599 gto!! sweeet!

35

The car in the first picture is a Datsun 510.

36

love the Datsun 510 - sweet.. surprised not many Dub fans wheeled there rides out for this mixed bag event..

37

The first picture is that of a 1973 Datsun 510. The motor in there is a 2.4 liter turbo with individual throttle bodies from a Suzuki GSX-R motorcycle.
