38

Frederic Aasbo's performance at Formula D Seattle.

39

Peugeot 908s

40

Stig leaves Top Gear. Most tragic and heartbreaking moment of the year by far.

41

The Stig being revealed and leaving Topgear, it was almost sad.

42

Michael Schumacher's block on Rubens Barrichello, Hungarian GP.

IMO Webber's Flip was the most amazing moment tho

43

Dandy RX-7 crash at Bonneville, such a shame

44

Hibino's jump at D1GP Ebisu.

45

Daijiro Inada and Keiichi Tsuchiya departure from D1GP. Hopefully Japanese pro-drifting goes back to the early D1 years where high hp wasn't an advantage at technical tracks.

46

The Red Bull clash

it was an awful mistake

47

Vaughn Gittin Jr vs. Rhys Millen, Formula D Long Beach

48

Tanner Foust vs. Darren McNamara

49

the Red Bull clash

50

Fredric Aasbo in Seattle for sure!!!!

51

Hibino's jump

52

I would have said Vettel winning the world championship and being the youngest ever to do so, but ill go with Webber and Vettel's clash!

53

What about Francisco Carvalhos crash at Brands? Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nsca3UqysrI

Or Webbers flying RedBull? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2kNZzqqdhM0

Granted, both weren't really crucial but hey, you have Rubens overtake against Michael as well so...

Concerning global impact, it probably was Ben Collins revealed as the Stig though.

54

Vaughn Gittin Jr vs. Rhys Millen, Formula D Long Beach

55

The Red Bull clash

56

Stig leaving Top Gear.

57

The STIG departing Top Gear.

58

Michael Schumacher's block on Rubens Barrichello. Mostly because I strongly dislike Schumacher.

59

There are many moments in here that have shocked and stopped us in this past year, but in contrast there are few that I hear or see just now. For example crashes happen on motor sports all the time, Schumi has always been a dick, Formula 1 drivers or GP drivers have always done that fight in the track crashed and burned Senna, Fangio, Hakkinen, the whole lot of them, and we like it to the point when everyone walk out of it and nobody gets hurt. Raicing teams always retire and re.enter in the world of motorsports, thanks to the economy. The Stig in my own mind was always more than just Ben Collins it was the suit, the character not the man. The Underdog situations like Frederic Aasbo's performance at Formula D Seattle, those are great it proves that these things don't just appear in movies, fantasies, books etc.

But my answer needs to be the departure of Daijiro Inada and Keiichi Tsuchiya departure from D1GP, eventhou D1 isn't as mainstream as F1 or LM this is just sad, these men helped to make the sport what it is. c'mon it was just kids playing in traffic before, it wan't even considered it was even a motorsport. F*ck , this is just wrong we shoud get rid of oldman Bernie not them

60

STIG departing TopGear

61

I think there are some big misses in the drifting department of this overview. The fact that the James Deane battle against Darren McNamara at Long Beach didn't make it onto this list and Vaughn Gitten's battle did, makes it seem like a ploy to somehow guarantee that Vaughn makes it onto this list.

62

Frederic Aasbo's performance at Formula D Seattle.

63

The revealing of the RTR-X, I know its not on the list, but it should be.

64

The Red Bull clash at the Turkish GP

65

Honda HSV-010GT crash.

66

the stig left topgear?! and he's not a robot?!

67

Hibino's jump at D1GP Ebisu.

68

Frederic Aasbo's

69

Daijiro Inada and Keiichi Tsuchiya

85

Its not on here but my vote is for Alexandre Premat's crash at Adria in the DTM this year. That crash was out of control. As far as whats on the list, it would have to be Fabian Coulthard's crash at Bathurst

86

The STIG departing Top Gear.

87

Hibino's jump at D1GP Ebisu.

In reality, I would have said that this jump is the spot of the year.

88

yeah mark webber going upside down should be there!!

but i'll settle for that v8 supercar crash at the bathurst 1000

89

How about corvette repairing a totaled car in ten minutes at the 24 Heures? Or BMW in the Rolex series? My vote goes for pretty boy Tanner Foust vs. DMac at Evergreen, that was an amazing battle! To be completely honest I could still feel my bones shaking for two days afterwords.

90

Schumacher's stupid move on Barrichello... that was probably the most exciting/heart-wrenching moment of F1 this year, followed closely by the crash between Vettel and Webber (Vettel's fault no doubt) and Webber's flip after colliding into the rear of Kovalainen's Lotus.

91

Pontiac for sure

92

Mark Webber's backflip crash and walking away unharmed..

Oh wait, it's not here.. :/

93

Pontiac going under.

94

Foust and Mcnamara At Formula D Seattle! Absolutely amazing duel.

that was all skill on barrichello's part

100

Rod Harvey's Toyota Celica, at Jamboree

101

Don't laugh. It's the Stig. His audience is wider reaching than D1, F1, and Bonneville. Car guys will choose the biggest moment in the dicipline they enjoy most, The Stig has a crossover effect and is significant to people who would otherwise give a SH*T about motorsport. Like it or not he was important.

102

The Stig departing Top Gear.

134

The STIG departing Top Gear.

135

While the Stig departing Top Gear definitely generated a lot of media attention and Fabian Coulthard's crash at the Bathurst 1000 was absolutely spectacular, I feel the moment of the year has to go to Inada and Tsuchiya's departure from D1. While Top Gear and F1 are firmly in the media spotlight these guys have built D1 from the ground up to become what it is today. I eagerly await to see how their new series goes and wether the current D1 series copes with their departure.

136

Schumi vs. R.B.. commitment like that is rare :D

209

Frederic Aasbo's performance at Formula D Seattle.

210

Daijiro Inada and Keiichi Tsuchiya

211

Stig is probably a main caracter in the car cosmos. He represents what we (car nutters) would love to do. Driving exquisite machinery, trash it on a track, and just walk away. and do it again and so on. he is a bit like a Knight, only tho he swapped his white horse for a wilder ride... Stig living Top gear is quite an event. Tsuchiya san leaving the D1 GP....well it's quite an event too...

My vote will go for Stig then, who was the faceless driver we could all identify to..

212

i vote for the sierra sierra enterprises car beating the HKS record at Buttonwillow. what a great day.

213

Sierra Sierra.....Beating HKS Record

214

The stig leaving top gear did seem a big deal but once again like before theres a new mysterious stig...therefore lol... The Bathurst crash thats freakin crazzy!
