Gallery>> Aasbo Is A Maniac

Fredric Aasbo is fast becoming champion of the people. He drives a Supra in ways that no one has ever driven. He eats Formula D champions for breakfast, lunch and dinner. He also throws a supra into a corner, ass end first and holds it.

Peanut butter connoisseur and Keep Drifting Fun filmmaker, Joshua Herron, shared these photos of Aasbo doing what he does best: being a maniac.

Aasbo does the usual drift entry, but this time, he takes it up a step further…

…throws it butt in….

…holds it… (how has he not spun out?!)

…finishes up the drift…

…aaand he's done. What a maniac!

Look out for Fredric's driver blog from FD Seattle in the coming days.

huge respect for Aasbo , these backward entries are getting more and more popular but i have never seen one so crazy as in the 3rd picture, WOW!!

3

Just crazy. He´s mental.

4

my eyes just popped out on the 3rd picture.......

5

Rad. I'm feelin this.

6

He's doing a "kawabata"! :D :D

7

Why is NFS sponsoring Mad Mike and Matt Powers and not this guy?

8

I've got nothin' but love for Mike and Matt, but that is seriuosly a good question

9

Matt and Mike are seriously low

If they make it into the Top32, they are thrown out at least there

But making the biggest shows n shit

10

while Matt and Mike are both good drivers, they care more about their cars looks than how the are actually running. I'm not sure if Matt has made the top 32 this year, and while Mike has, i truly believe that the way he built the RX8 has made it unable to properly compete with the other cars on the circuit. he needs to lose loose those heavy chrome wheels for something lighter and looks better on the RX8 as well as raising the car at minimum an inch. I believe doing those two things, plus adding some other small tweaks to the suspension will help the way the car handles on our tracks. the setup now might have worked well in Aussie, but it isn't going to work to well here.

11

I'm not one of those Tanner haters, but Aasbo deserved to move on

12

You are right when you say that Matt and Mike's cars aren't as fit to compete as some of the other rides in formula d. But I'm not so sure that they care more about how the car looks than how they are actually running,, I think there is a fine line here between drifting on the basis of pure competition and competitive drifting whilst retaining soul, form and culture. Some people just can't give up their character and personality for a factory sponsorship and a nascar spec scion tc with stock ride height. Maybe it's because they have balls.

13

Dang. This guy is a maniac. Throwing a Supra around like its a Silvia. Bravo.

14

Please tell me someone has this up on YouTube or similar? Would love it see it in real time

15

woooohoo nice driving

16

That's a crazy angle!!!! Look the front wheels how much turn :o

17

Is that legal?! :) it's more like a professional stunt than a drift IMO

..Still not better than Masato Kawabata stuff

18

This guy is awesomee!!!!!

19

@Snook - absolutely mental. the speed he must be going to pull that all the way round the corner is pure madness!

20

would that be negative angle

21

Oh my... I can't even find the words. Would be sweet as hell if someone got video of that.

22

THIS IS MADNESS !

23

Well done, amazing !

24

So effing sick!

25

Tanner is a good driver, he really is, but Aasbo owned him.....much like he owned JR at the first round....but you know what? It's all propaganda. Although Aasbo is a kick ass driver, most of the audience want to see the big-buck driver get on top of the podium......fvcking lame.

26

WHAT THE .... ???!!!!

AWESOME !!!

27

skillz witha Z

28

I think some video footage of this is in order.

30

Damn this is sick. I watched videos of Aasbo in round 1, and called out right there this guy as top 3 competitor in FD. Really fun to watch, drives hard and smooth, with real quick transitions. Can't wait to see more of him!

31

wow. :O !

32

Kawabata entry with aasbo angle is the new benchmark.

33

Aaaaaaassssbbbbooooooooooo!!

34

Mad Mike is from NZ.....NOT Australia, big difference mate.

35

Since when has there been politics and conspiracies in drifting? And sure NFS should sponsor this guy but you can't go ragging on Mike and Matt for having a bad season. Did we really expect these guys to come flying out of the gate and automatically win a championship?

37

And YES he is a maniac! Best driftovertake EVER!?

39

Video!!!!!!!!!!

40

Damn. i thought he was going to spin on the 3rd pic. awesome guy!

41

@Chris I think you hit the nail right on the head, in my opinon Mike has out done himself driving in seattle but his rx8 isnt the best car for the job! look how much he improved by increasing the camber on the rear and removing the wing, i wonder how much lighter wheels would contribute, im sure the rotational weight on those wheels is ridiculous for that rotory?

42

if been telling you since i first saw this cat throw his moves at irwandale

43

Dang. This guy is a maniac. Throwing a Supra around like its a Silvia. Bravo.

44

45

its not the fact that mike and matt care more about their looks than performance. i personally have mad respect for drivers who man up and slam their car or dare to use wheels that are a little different. it gives you something new to look at and gives drifting something fresh instead of the same old crap

im not a fan of either driver but it just seems they need to man up and just send it.. theyre drifters thats what theyre supposed to do. matt almost didnt even drive his car at allstar bash because he though it might get messed up....

as for aasbo, that guys damn amazing

46

I bet Eddie Kim over at Hankook must be saying Assbo is cheating. I bet he already placed a phone call over to Ryan and Jim @ Fd.

47

While the angle is insane & this IS an amazing entry, he doesn't carry the drift through the corner or link the next. It's basically a long straight, near backwards slide....give him props for that, but it's not really a drift. Now what kawabata did, THAT was an insane drift bc he went completely through the corner.

48

@ D1Fan - Aasbo is throwing this farther. Step away from the JDM-worship and recognize. This guy is showing incredible raw talent, and his car is 1/10th of Kowabatas or Foust's, or anyone else he keeps beating. He's not DK yet, but nobody, and I mean NOBODY electrifies the event like Aasbo does. And I have been following and going to FD for 4 years.

Awesome sequence, is there any video anywhere?

49

So much respect for this guy... hands down best IMO... idc what poeple say he drives like me and makes me want to go harder each time.

50

Rock on fellow 2JZer

51

respect!!!

52

Massive drift on a straight line, are corners not needed anymore?

53

Is this really a drift..?... There should be at least one or two more photos showing him continuing the drift through the next corner, otherwise it is just a ass end throw in which he catches and drives away from, without linking the next corner!..

I say not drift.

54

If Herrron has these pics then he has the videooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

55

fuck this none drift bull shit... he prob is regaining his sanity after scareing his poop back into his throat

56

the video is up above guys (see ShortHairedNorwegianDrifter's post).....& yes all he does is throw the ass end around and then straightens out. It IS amazing that he doesn't spin, but as I stated before, not really a drift since he doesn't go around a corner and/or link the next turn.

57

WTH....how is that possible.....speechless...nuff props

58

Anyone know when, or if, Aasbo will be back at FD this year?

59

D1RGE.EXE I can promise you he don't. He am stealing credit.

60

insane!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

61

Here is a vid from the event these pic's were taken, there is a clip of Aasbo in it, however not the one shown in the pic's. Check it out, and see what's going on in Norway.

62

Aasbo for 2010 FD champ.

63

@ Chris - Mad Mike isn't an Aussie, he's a Kiwi like Rhys Millen. Mad Mike is all hype & no results in a mental car. Aasbo is all results without the hype in a fairly average car by comparison to those he's driving against.
