Car Spotlight >> Sunline Racing Skyline 370gt

Following the fourth round of D1 a few weeks ago, I took some time to drop by and say hello to Sato-san at SunLine Racing in Okayama city. I always make a point to stop by if I'm in the area because Sato-san is one guy I always love to chat to. We share a lot of common opinions and tastes when it comes to cars and seem to always be on the same page on most things. As soon as I pulled up at the SLR shop I noticed something very interesting parked up front and judging from the body color I instantly assumed it was their latest demo car. Turns out this deep red V36 Skyline 370GT is a customer car that was in to get some much needed ECU tuning.

The owner has already been busy fitting a few choice parts here and there like the hard piping kit to the VQ37VHR…

…and a set of 19-inch Yokohama Connoisseur No.51 wrapped in Advan Sport rubber, 255/40/ZR19 front and back. In the above shot you can get a very good look at the big Akebono 4-pot calipers, which are the same that get fitted to the Z34 370Z. In Japan these are very popular upgrades for Z33 owners looking for inexpensive ways to beef up their braking systems.

The exterior wears some choice Top Secret parts like the G-Force front bumper and side skirts.

The very quiet stock exhaust might be getting replaced by one of Sato-san's titanium creations to get the full V6 aural treatment!

The interior of this 7-speed automatic Skyline has remained very much stock, the only addition being the dash-mounted radar detector, a little gadget that everyone runs in their cars in Japan!

Not exactly sure where that front grille conversion comes from but it certainly gives the front end a more sporting intent. Would be cool to see what the car would perform like if Sato-san was let loose on it, but unfortunately that is up to the owner!

Looking good, I love V36's.

The brake calipers on the 370GT and 370Z are actually made by Akebono, not Brembo.

LET'S ALL FLAME! i HAVEN'T LOOKED AT THE PICS, I'M JUST GONNA HATE CUZ IT'S AN AUTO!

7

I love the front end of the car. You don't see many tuned 370gts in Tokyo they don't seem to be as popular base for tuning . They look pretty good when done right

8

I think the grill is from Zele.

9

Nothing really special (IMO), but looks good.

10

I like how nice it looks with the few mods.

My favorite out of all the generations of Skylines. CKV36 370GT. Sadly it suffers the fate or every V generation Skyline. completely overlooked and unappreciated.
