News>> G1 Grand Prix

Just got word of this from Andy over at Powervehciels.com.

We at powervehicles.com along with our partners Team Orange and Ebisu circuit, have launched a new 3 round drift series starting April 2010.  The event will take place on each Friday before the tri-annual 36 hour non-stop drift Matsuri’s (Festivals). This will be part of a complete package called “Drift Heaven Weeks“, which starts the week leading up to the Matsuri weekend, Kicking of with Practice Days Mon-Wed allowing you to set your car up and familiarise yourself with the many tracks.  On the Thursday, a Drift Master class will be hosted by Team Orange D1 Drivers Nobushige Kumakubo and Naoto Suenaga.  On Friday we will hold the G1GP foreigner only competition with trackside winners party afterwards with Team Orange and the week will then climax with the famous drift matsuri. Every Drifter, from every country has to experience the 36 hour non stop Matsuri’s once in their life and with cars available to buy at the track at very reasonable costs (from a basic drift car, all the way up to a d1 machine) there really is no excuse not to make the “pilgrimage” to Ebisu!  Some customers are already planning on sending their own machines from overseas to Japan just for these events and also so they can compete on D1 and D1SL events.  The G1GP is a truly international competition open to drivers from all countries and top names from Australia, France, Ireland, UK, NZ, Russia and Holland to name a few are already planning their trips this year.  The competition welcomes drivers of any level, however expect the last 16 battles to be fiercely fought, as each driver will be pushing hard to win the Title, and prove their country to have the best drivers.  The competition will be organised and judged by the famous D1 drift stars Team Orange and Low to Medium spec cars will be used by all drivers this year to keep the competition inline, but with plans of expansion to a Pro-class for the best cars and drivers in the near future this is definitely a series to watch!

Various online and international magazines and Japan’s  video option will be covering the event.  If you want more info for your publication, freelance coverage can be supplied on request.
