Event>> Nagoya Exciting Car Showdown – Pt.4

I thought I post one final entry from the 2010 Exciting Car Showdown to keep everyone happy and show you yet more stunning JDM rides from what is one of the most important shows of the year. And what better car to kick this post off than with the D1 Motor Works built BNR32, created exclusively for track use. The HKS 2.8L kit and Trust T618Z turbos are good for 667HP.

This is one car I will need to do a more in-detail shoot of it. Whenever the guys at Impulse will fit the engine back into the LHD AE86 that we first saw at TAS this year I will drop over to shoot both cars.

The GC110 is powered by this super clean L28 running on Solex carbs…

…and of course here are those TE37Vs again!

This JZX100 MarkII had the most bizarre name out of all the cars at the show. "Gazelle-Punchi" …didn't know gazelles threw punches!

Of course Kumakubo and Suenaga set up a cool Team Orange area where both the D1 Evo X was on display…

…showing off its longitudinally mounted 4B11…

…along with the Koyama Racing Labo (KRL) time attack monster.

Now this means business! Machining specialists NTS have teamed up with K Style and KRL to create one-off billet parts like the intake plenum.

And take a look at Yokomo's latest addition to their drift RC car body lineup, a perfect scaled replica of Kuma's M-sports kitted Evo X. Kumakubo also mentioned that we will soon be finding out who has been chosen to replace Tanaka, who has decided to quit D1 all together, as the third driver at Team Orange. More on this soon.

I quite liked this Original Runduce built ECR33, which competes in the 2WD-class of the Meister Cup track day events. The RB25DET under the hood cranks out 550 HP.

Another Meister Cup competitor, participating in the 4WD class, is this Racing Service Factor BCNR33, which sports a fully built Auto Select motor boosted by a Trust T88-33D turbine and sending drive to all four wheels via a BNR34 6-speed Getrag transmission. If that wasn't enough there is are an additional 50 PS on tap thanks to a small dose of nitrous oxide.

This S15 and E-PS13 at the RYO stand were both built in collaboration with Total Car Produce MMM. The Silvia participates in D1 Street Legal.

A quick view from the back.

I really like the look of this black Fujita Engineering FD3S, a very serious time attack machine powered by a side-ported, T04Z equipped 13B. Boost is kept low for reliability but there are still 500 HP to play around with. With such a light and balanced chassis this must be one hell of a drive.

The Fortune RX-7 I showed in Part 2 was joined by this other Veilside creation based on a Honda NSX. Not to everyone's taste I'm sure, but definitely something a little different.

As ever R31 House never fails to impress. This particular 80's Skyline was running a 400 HP RB20DET, fitted with a Tomei 2.4L stroker kit and R33 5-speed manual gearbox.

But it was this one that got my vote, the Skyline Wagon! How cool is this thing??

Under the hood was a stock RB25DET fitted with a low-mounted HKS GT3037 turbine which allows it to develop a more than acceptable 350 HP. Gotta respect the wagons!

I was asked to show more shots of the crazy FF-drift Celica….

…running that insane rear negative camber! I have actually seen this thing on the streets around Tsukuba circuit, and that camber looks even wilder when seen out on the road.

Another ride I was asked to show in more detail is this Paint and Cutting Make Naganokoubou RPS13, almost stock under the hood…

…but rocking a very fashionable dorisha style. The body is a mix of Origin Streamline aero an D-max front fenders.

This ST182 Carina was quite an interesting ride, and I'm pretty sure it's owned by D1 driver Nakamura. The 165 HP 3S-GE that powers it could do with a a few more horses, but what it lacks in outright power it makes up with plenty of noise from that bosozoku style exhaust!

Remember the Roadster World Sileighty from Part 1? Well this is what it looked like at the end of the week-end after tons of people had written messages on it.

I had to do my part too.

I hope you guys enjoyed the coverage from this years Showdown in Nagoya. This is one show that won't disappoint for years to come!

2

so many cool cars at the show and 70% of your coverage are skylines!!! frankly good coverage but i'm a bit disapointed! seems like the only thing that matters is tuner's cars! how about the cool privateer's cars that were on the show? doesn't them deserve to be on your coverage? sorry to say this but is my opinion!

3

love it dino

4

I just love the Veilside Fortune NSX. Awesome car, my personal dream of a weekendracer.

5

Anyone know why Tanaka would leave D1?!

6

Gazelle punch? Better than Donkey Punch.

7

What body kit is on the yellow S15?

And ive seen Veilside NSX's like that before, ive seen an orange one with black rims and scissor d00rs

8

And what is that last car painted with that lets chalk get on it?

9

Can someone explain me word "dorisha"? "Dori" means "drift" but that's all I know :)

10

5th pic on the chaser! WHAT WHEELS ARE THEY!!!!?????? please sum1 must know :(

11

THANKS DINO, im pleased now :] wicked s chassis

12

Really thanks for the report ^^

13

that chaser is amazing!!!

14

Anyone know the rims/rim size on the MarkII Gazelle?

15

Chalk Sil80 FTW. The only proper matte color.

16

Nice coverage Dino.

One question - are those rims on the R32 in the first snap Prodrive GC-06H? Look mint.

17

@ECR33

Its a Mark II not a chaser, and i think the rims are SSR Professor's.

18

Nice pictures as always :)

Don't have any 180sx features incoming?

19

And Dino saves the day!

Thank you very much for bringing great content from Japan. I'm really happy to see you posted more pics of the Celica and that zokusha Carina (I thought it was a Mark II!).

20

The Gazelle punch is a sort of punch used in the popular manga 'Hajime no Ippo'. Though I have no idea as to why they called the car that :P

21

@Matiz: I think dorisha is two words combined which is "dori" (drift as you said it) and "sha" (which is vehicle). Well I don't know, just wait for Dino to reply lol.

22

@Matiz

I think Dorisha just means drift car. sha from jidousha (automobile). Therfore abbr. of Dorifto jidousha would be my guess.

23

lol, "Gazelle Punch" is definitely a reference to a boxing move, more specifically, one used by Makunouchi Ippo, a Japan's most famous featherweight fighter ;D

24

more pics of the fujita engineering fd please!

25

bout time y'all showed us an R31 wagon! I used to own one, loved it! rear seat fold flat, so not only can you drive it fast, but you can sleep in it trackside too!!! haha.

26

Awesome pics!

The Old school Skyline up top looks Great!

27

Lol, idiots still calling Mark 2's "Chaser's ".

28

that r31 skyline wagon is the sex

29

Quote from above...... "As ever R31 House never fails to disappoint. This particular 80's Skyline was running a 400 HP RB20DET, fitted with a Tomei 2.4L stroker kit and R33 5-speed manual gearbox."

As i read this it means you were somehow disapointed with R31 house??? i Cant see why?

30

I see you have fixed the typo, lol.

R31s ROCK!!!!

31

Yep, fixed LOL

32

I believe that is CraftCompany FD, not FEED.

33

This show has been making TAS look very stupid for a few years now. So many nice S-chassis lurking in the background of your pics! Aaaargh, frustration!!! Is there anywhere I can go to see more pics of the show?

34

Awesome pics! I especially love the R31 wagon. By the by, does anyone happen to know who makes the kit on the Original Runduce ECR33? The combination of the front bar, hood and hood finisher is absolutely stunning.

35

Yeah it is the Craft Company (CC) FD - But wears just about every FEED part available.

Would love to see a feature on it.

36

Dino, regarding the gazelle punch, I'm preety sure that who ever named the car is a fan of the anime "Hajime no Ippo". I'm a fan as well, story of a kid that picked up boxing and at some point learned the "gazelle punch" that involved a uppercut combined with a powerful jump, fast and agile like a gazelle.

I'm a nerd, I know... I know...

37

sooo rear negative camber? is basically tilting the tire so you can fit it past the panel without rubbing, or you would have to change the whole setup? or am i completely off...? explain someone maybe? thankz:)

38

wow.. such a plethora of cars.. so many that i'd like to have a closer look at in the flesh.. the Celica in Yellow is cambered like crazy... but that Skyline by Impulse takes the cake.. its just right!!

39

Dino! Love to see more pics of the black Fujita FD! Nice coverage.
