Random Snap>>fabulous Pulsar

Even though it's one of the most high tech cars that Nissan has ever produced, the Pulsar GTI-R never had much more than a cult following in Japan. I've seen some nice examples in Europe and Australia, but was disappointed that this rally-spec rocket never really caught on in the homeland. Hunting around in the Minkara site, I did manage to find this tuned GTi-R rocking an aggressive set of 17×8 Fabulous wheels. It would have been awesome to watch Nissan continue development on this car the same way that Mitsubishi and Subaru did with their rally programs and the incredible street cars they spawned…

Hell yeah, I love the pulsar gtir. Its the most under rated car nissan ever produced.

I want one!!!!!!

hmmm. i think it was Dino or was it auto otaku that had a pulsar running on tsukuba. its a red one sporting a very agressive body kit (kinda reminded me of the Exceed moat S14) with gold rims? if i remember correctly. havent seen much of that car even after your tsukuba time attack events or even at rev speed. hmm.

Edit: never mind.. found it.

Looks aggresive.

Awesome stance.

5

I heard the engine was placed too far forward over the front axle and caused massive understeer.

6

(supposed to be an edit for my post but..

the pulsar was shot by mike himself. hehe. sorry man. pic to that red pulsar goes to you. ^_^

7

Its like the result of a R33 and a Starlet bumpin uglies....hahaha.

In Barbados there was a cult following of these cars. From street racing to rallying, they have great potential for speed but their handling seemed to be a little shakey to say the least

9

Just the one photo?

adam, that is correct but is easy fixed with a rear swaybar upgrade... perfect car!

would love to get one, shame their hard to find in good condition in aus

That looks pretty damn staunch. Awesome improvement over all the ones we see over here rolling around with chrome wheels and riced up flip flop paint with big audio installs.

A lot of the parts will fit on the 90s SE-Rs and the S2000s. Back in the early 90s, I tried to source as many parts for my SE-R from the Pulsar GTiR. I always wanted one. If it was given the same attention as the STi and EVOs, it would be right beside them for sure.

13

dont know whether its the same thing as a se-r, but my '90 pulsar has the same strut setup as the gti-r so the brakes/coils/strut braces fit straight in without an issue

14

That look like crazyhornet demo car

15

Bingo...Crazy Hornet demo car it is:

I had one!!! It was stock and went very well. Taught me how to swing it on the gravel.

Great little car and was considered the Baby GT-R for its time featuring the ATESSA AWD . Factory SR20DET + Quad-throttles made a good combo. The only weak points were the Gearboxes and they weren't cheap to replace and the usual SR20 issues. But otherwise a great fun car to drive.

The front suspension and brakes are interchangeable with 91-94 sentra sers, nx2000s, and 200sx sers but the rear suspension is completely different. I actually have a cusco front strut bar on my 200sx from a gti-r and it bolts right up. The motor can also be swapped into those cars with pretty much no modification besides an ecu tune. Ive even seen a 92 sentra ser converted to awd with the gtir drive train. My friend just sold his gtir over here in the states and a couple of them can occasionally be found for sale on the sr20forum.com.

These cars are lightning fast! In factory stock-standard form, they ran a 13.10 second 1/4 mile! That's only marginally slower than a GTR O.O

I'm in the middle of building one of these cars to use out on track, can't wait to actually drive it with a bit of venom! :)

unfortunately there a lot of badly modified examples here in the uk and they are generally owned by max power magazine reading types, leading to them gaining a rather uncool image with japanese car enthusiasts, that and they're pretty damn ugly looking when stock!
