Random Snap>> Hillclimb Lancia

After doing some research for this car and feature I came across this site called Hillclimbfans. They have an awesome collection of photo's and video's dedicated to this kind of sport. While looking through their archives I came across this amazing looking Lancia Delta.

After seeing this car I made a promise to myself that I need to visit one of these events and witness these cars tear up a hill. Maybe I can persuade Rod to bring his HD camera to make another Speedhunters movie.

i think a feature on european hillclimbing is a must.As much as i lke the drifing and the time attack on here. some of the builds on the european hillclimbing scene make them look tame. as you found out with the irl engined e30. On the same train of thought i'm still wondering why georg plasa judd v8 e36 hasn't been featured? heres a video of it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=az5gi6cSXxQ

asnd the eqally insane mercedes 190e judd v8: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rU9mQ7z5JVQ&feature=related

And it sounds as good as it looks. :) I have been doing the same thing since yesterday, watching all the Hillclimbfans videos on youtube.

4

I don't think I've ever seen a picture of a Lancia that I haven't absolutely loved. <3 Amazing cars. And maybe this is gonna sound stupid... But what's with the headlights? Are those scorpions? (And if so, why? Or what are they and why?)

5

lancia action, sweet..................@Solo check out the E30 with the judd v10..........

6

Congrats AE, you're an idiot.

7

10

Ohh thats soo nice... its making me warm... down there.

11

Clearly you're so out of the motorsports loop AE that you have no idea the meaning of it.

@Foxie || CarsxGirl

they replace the factory headlight with dummies out of plastic in order to save about 15-20kg.

13

Hillclimbs are awesome, you should visit one of these events, you wont regret.

14

The scorpions on the headlights of the Delta could indicate that it was tuned by Abarth.

15

I saw it at Sternberk. Its really fast at straight.. but that fast in corners as "Raketen Bruno" Lancia. Check this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tkwVdJYO864

Jeroen, I totally agree with you. I've been watching all of the videos of the hill climb on Youtube the whole of yesterday and I still can't get enough of it! Also this Lancia has one of the best turbo sound of any car I've ever heard off!!!!

Speedhunters meeting! ;)

Apparently Osnabruck isn't too far from Holland. I wanted to go there this year, but something came up. Should be going next year though!

18

This Lancia Delte S4 (compressor/turbo) is even more hardcore...

Hey Jeroen, hey Motorsportfans!

I'm glad you like our movies and pictures!!! (you have to know we are just fans! :) hehehe)

our shots and videos are from the austrian hillclimb champoinship, the austrian hillclimb rallye and some of the european hillclimb events!

the man in the orange lancia is felix pailer. he is about 60 years old and FAST, VERY FAST.

this car has about 700hp... but he has many opponents! hanspeter laber (ford cossie with about 850 hp), franz nowak and his yellow bull: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dFNBxjvx3bg

so stay tuned, we have 3 - 4 races this year to film some action!

so long,

chris

I ordered a dozen or so DVD's a few years ago at great expense. They were 100% worth it! The commitment these guys show to both the sport and on the track is astounding.

I agree that hill climb should be added to the long list of features here. The cars are quite often very innovative, built to a high standard and they're driven to within an inch of their life.

The action is always intense, a Speed Hunters driver experience video would definitely be appreciated!

Franz Tschager, Lionel Regal, Georg Plaza. All legends!

@ Foxie, The scorpion is the official symbol of Abarth, an Italian tuner with a storied history of making slow cars go fast, very fast! They started out tuning Fiat Topolinos and the like, and had associations with Alfa Romeo and Lancia as well. Today, Abarth has become somewhat of a performance sub-brand of Fiat, much in the same way as AMG is to Mercedes. Incidentally, Lancia also had a model called the Beta-Scorpion.

@ bobberz:

the scorpion on pailers car is a advertisement for an energy drink called skorpion!

so long,

chris

Ahh, I stand corrected! Thanks for clearing that up; I thought it looked a little different than Abarth's logo, but wasn't sure if it was a "modernised" version.
