Mustang Thrash: 50 Years Of Fun

The Ford Mustang celebrates its 50th anniversary this year, and to kick off the celebrations in style Speedhunters’ own Vaughn Gittin Jr. (and friends) took a selection of cars – both past and present models – for a good old fashioned thrash. The result is 50 Years Of Fun – a new short film from Ford Performance. Of course, where there’s tyre smoke and a video production like this, Larry Chen normally isn’t too far away, and he’s currently putting together a behind the scenes story from the day which you’ll get to see later this month. In the meantime though, check out the clip below.

Nearly all of the Mustang generations feature in this video, but which one is your favourite?

Fox body but not just any the top notch project featured on speedhunters

2

A bunch of 60's, an early 70's, a FREAKING MUSTANG II and 05 and up but no SN-95? It could have been perfect.
At least it was still fun.

3

Is the mustang 2 on here (it looks cool)

4

I like everything except the cheesy Black Keys ripoff.

5

Leebea W That was the first thing I noticed too. Why would you make it such an obvious rip off? It ruined the video for me :(

6

Are you going to do a Feature on that Fox Body?

7

PowerTryp I agree, where is the sn95 :(

8

feature that mustang II please!!

9

is that the a-team racing mustang ii? feature that please!!

10

I like the one with the flat plane crank

11

PowerTryp Agreed, that seems a  bit half assed to include the ugly ones and then leave out 10 years and 2 gens of car!

12

That blue fastback!! *love*

13

That is the best tribute to an iconic automobile!!!!!

14

Lots of awesomeness! I must say the blue fastback had the most of my attention.

@73kb110 Leebea W Completely agree.  Its Ford.  Just pay the licensing for the authentic song.

Had a stock '98 5.0 LX w/ 5 speed, I dare anyone to name a car from that era that offered higher performance for the money. Once, many years ago, I lined up at a light next to a current model ZR1 and we ran 'em. He beat me but my front bumper never was never past his rear. At the next light I rolled down my window and said "Nice car, those run about $70k right?" He nodded "yes" to which I replied: Funny, I'd have thought you having paid $60,000 more for your car than I did for mine you'd have beaten me by more than six feet. He wasn't amused. Loved my 5.0, some dick stole it and totaled it. I went to see her at the junkyard, guy had slid sideways into a tree or something, driver door was pushed all the way to the center console. I always hoped he got hurt bad. I got even though, took the insurance settlement and bought a used 911, ahhhh.

Had a '92 GT. B303, 3:73, dumped shorties. Had a few other go-fast bolt ons. Beat a new Vette on the highway in a rolling 50. Those Mustangs were so fun and really cheap to make fast.!

25

LOVE the Mustang II. Those bombs don't get enough attention.

You are correct, and good catch. A little dyslexia slipped in there, it was an '89. My bad, I shouldn't tell old stories if I can't keep my facts straight, unfortunately, that becomes harder with age and the unrelenting consumption of good tequila.

PowerTryp Yeah I was also super pissed they left off the SN95 Mustang. Since I currently have one it makes me feel like my year of mustang didn't matter.
