Before I post any coverage from the New/Now Car Festival held in Tsukuba the other day, I thought I'd show you guys this crazy race Bug. Built by Sato Unyukiko this 2L Beetle competes in the Japanese Y's Cup Vee Bug Road Race. I though it looked pretty mean blasting around Tsukuba, taking the in-field hairpin at amazing speeds. In fact, it looked like the driver hardly used the brakes! Back in my mid-teens I had a thing for Beetles, wanted to get one as soon as I got my driver's license and tune it up. My dream Bug would have probably looked like the Sato race car with a massive Porsche-like spoiler! Out back this thing had no hood, the engine was on display in all its tuned glory! Make sure you don't miss the action from Tsukuba, which will include a few other interesting VW's.
