Heat Treatments Limited Racing – the New Zealand team behind the world’s quickest Skyline GT-R – have rewritten the record books once again. At Willowbank Raceway in Queensland, Australia on Saturday, driver Reece McGregor pointed the HTL Racing BNR32 to a 7.455 at 193.27mph (311km/h) pass before going 7.412 at the same trap speed. It’s been exactly a year since the legendary GT-R set its last PB – that run was a 7.531 at 185.26mph (298.14km/h) at the very same Willowbank Sportsman pre-FUCHS Winternationals meet – so cracking into the 7.40s (and very nearly the 7.30s!) is a great accomplishment. We can’t wait to see what the team can do at the 2013 Winternats in a few weeks time! In the meantime, check out some video of the 7.45 and 7.41 passes from the guys at DragImportMedia.
No matter what school of thought you may belong to, the kyusha scene in Japan has been steadily growing in popularity over the last few years. The vastness in which vintage cars are approached in Japan is as diverse and as varied as the culture itself, no matter how you tackle your own build, it will [...]
I’m like a kid in a candy store at most any car show I go to, but Autosport is one of those general interest shows which has me pinging back and forth across the spider’s web of my automotive interest. Here are some of the cars which made me stop, drop and drool. First up [...]
It’s right back at Daikoku PA now for a final look at the other day’s supercar gathering. During the few hours that I was there I literally never stopped walking around, because as cars left, more kept coming in. By around lunch time the lot was so full that a many were forced to park [...]
Shops like Wacky Mate are becoming a rarity in Japan. Located in the outskirts of Nagoya, this place is the perfect example of your rural Japanese workshop, catering exclusively to local customers. Its strategic location close to Suzuka circuit has made it a favorite among track racers and as soukoukai continue to become ever so [...]
Before I continue to show you the wild drag cars I came across in the pits during the JDDA drag meet up in Hi-land back in September, I thought a post dedicated to some zeroyon action would make a nice addition to the coverage, after all… …as nice as these cars are parked up, they [...]
Drag is dead in Japan. Or at least that is what everyone assumes. The reality however, is quite different. There’s no doubt that the zeroyon scene has quietened down a lot compared to those golden years that spanned from the mid-eighties to the end of the nineties, but those that have nurtured this passion for [...]
There is a reason I find myself driving down to Osaka every other month. A few hundred kilometers sure make a difference in Japan, and while every city from Hokkaido all the way down to Hiroshima looks exactly the same, it’s the people and their attitudes that change. This is especially the case in Kansai, [...]
For my last selection of the Game Changers theme that we've had this month I decided to pick another GT-R, the Garage Kagotani BNR34. It was a car that appeared as quickly as it disappeared, it surprised everyone at the 2005 Tsukuba Super Battle by coming in third position with a 57"232 lap, and that [...]

There was quite the explosion of GT-R popularity at this year’s Tokyo Auto Salon. It seems that after four years that it’s been around, tuners and parts makers have really caught up and are churning out upgrades for serious big power and performance. We can’t however forget the previous generation of the car, there might [...]
This past weekend I traveled down to Summit Point WV for the first Drift Nirvana event of the season. This is my first assignment for Speedhunters and my first drift event of the year, so needless to say I was pretty excited! Mother nature hasn't been too kind to us here on the East Coast [...]
It's been a while since I posted a wallpaper so will have to rectify the situation by trying to post a few more this month. Starting with the HKS Gr.A GT-R from the recent HKS Premium Day event. Enjoy. -Dino Dalle Carbonare
So 1995 saw a top ten finish at Le Mans for the NISMO run Nissan Skyline GT-R LM, how would it fare twelve months down the line? At first glance the car was largely unchanged, only the most observant would see the new rear wing, struts and endplates. However under the skin there were many [...]
After the demise of Group C and IMSA GTP in 1992 it was clear to all that endurance racing would have to go back to its road car roots. And so it proved, in 1994 Stephane Ratel, Jurgen Barth and Patrick Peter formed an alliance and created the BPR Series. They ran a number of [...]
