Event>>fabulous Fords Forever Pt.1

After two straight days of madness at Formula Drift Long Beach, I took it easy on Sunday and cruised over to Buena Park to check out Fabulous Fords Forever. Held in the parking lot of the Knott's Berry Farm theme park, this is one of the largest and most established Ford gatherings in the world. In fact, this year marked the 26th annual edition of the show.

To call the show massive would be an understatement. Fords from all over the Western United States converge on Orange County for this event every year – thousands of them. Even if you don't consider yourself a fan of the blue oval, there was something for every kind of car enthusiast to love.

It doesn't matter if you are a fan of hot rods, like the quintessential flamed '32 Ford Coupe.

Or if you are into Ford's late model muscle cars like the iconic Fox Body Mustang. Every type of Ford from every era could be found across the sun drenched parking lots.

Each year, the show highlights anniversaries of popular Ford models. This year marked the 45th birthday of the Ford Bronco.

We don't cover a lot of off roading here, but there's no denying the coolness of the early Bronco. I have never seen so many in one place.

As you might expect, Mustangs made up a big part of the show. About half I'd say. Shelby, Boss, Saleen, Mach 1, Roush – they were all there – old and new.

Although I'm a Mustang owner myself, I was more interested in some of the non-mainstream Fords out there. Cars like this 5.0 swapped fox body wagon with Cobra brakes and wheels.

From full-on race cars to custom vans, if it has Ford badges it was out there.

Anyone else think airbrushing is posed for a big comeback?

There's just something about sunny days and convertibles, like this aptly named Ford Sunliner.

There was a nice selection of international Ford vehicles as well. For example this German-built Capri showing off its US-spec crash bumpers.

Our Australian readers should recognize this imported Ford Falcon. It was generating more foot traffic and snap shot takers than any other car I saw.

A lowdown chopped '61 Thunderbird. I have been absolutely in love with this body style lately.

From a kustom T-bird to an SVT Focus, all united by a love for the Blue Oval.

There were several hotted up Ford Mavericks/Mercury Comets out there with worked small blocks plus suspension and brake mods to match.

This Ranchero looks pretty original on the outside, but have a look under the hood.

That's a blown DOHC Cobra swap mated to a six-speed manual. Rad!

A very sinister looking Mercury Marauder. In case you aren't familiar with the Marauder, it was a limited production Grand Marquis that came with 4.6 DOHC V8 from the Mustang Cobra along with a beefed up chassis and suspension.

I'll finish up part one with a shot of this properly muscular Torino GT, another great looking car from the height of the muscle car era.

Back soon with more Ford action!

-Mike Garrett

some classic's in this one.. nice to see a Capri in the mix too.. like those Ford Bronco's pity it was never sold in the UK - we in the Dub farternity some times poke fun at the Ford fraternity by using the Ford wording as the acronym Fix Or Repair Daily - but we do respect them in the UK as they have one of the biggest car clubs membership wise. not many RS's shown so far tho'.... [slighty off-topic but hey!]

Marauder :ULTIMATE SLEEPER, that thing kills!

Thats always an awesome show, but they used to run it the same weekend as LBGP. If i had any idea the show was on the weekend before LBGP this year, i would have taken the entire family and any friends that wanted to come. People have been complaining for years about the show being the same exact weekend as the LBGP. Would have been nice for them to put a little effort into spreading the word. Their PR team dropped the ball on this one.

At least Mike was there to ease the pain a little. Nice pics. :)

Wow the airbrushing is nice, but its not total California Dreamin' without some nice female eye candy. I'll take the Capri and the Falcon too if you don't mind...

Torino's are underrated, they don't get enough credit.
