Mad Max Is Back

With all the remakes, reboots and sequels out there today, it seems that original movie ideas are hard to come by. If there was, however, one film franchise that seems ripe for a comeback it would be Mad Max. Last week at Comic-Con in San Diego, a trailer for 2015’s Mad Max: Fury Road was released, and I’ve got to say that I’m pretty excited for this. While I’m generally skeptical of remakes, this film is being directed by the original Mad Max director George Miller. And from what the trailer shows us it seems to perfectly capture the feel of the originals – albeit with a modern twist.

Is anyone else looking forward to this?

I am! Watched the trailer last night and can not wait for it.

I've actually never seen the trilogy but it looks interesting. Guess I'll have to catch up. Plus that white guy looks like Voldemort with a nose. Is that a Ford Falcon?

3

JDM_Luca It is. XB GT Coupe.

Bursting with excitement, the original was strangely unnerving as it was set in the near future and I think this trailer has captured that same feeling whilst still being removed enough from our own reality.

The last of the V8 interceptors!

6

SO EXCITED.

don't mess this up...

Speedhunters_Bryn Agree, brother. Haven't watched the first Mad Max for years but I still get regular flashbacks of scenes that creep me the hell out.

Phase 4 heads, 600 horsepower to the wheel!

its not mad max without mel gibson, but im still looking forward to watching it!!

scibO  It would have made sense to swap it out for another car, since the Interceptor was destroyed in The Road Warrior. And Fury Road is suppose to fit in-between Road Warrior and Thunderdome. So, a different car would have made sense in the Mad Max universe... but it would not be the same without. Because we all saw what Thunderdome was like.

Isn't this the definition of #MaximumAttack...?

15

TarmacTerrorist I think it's "little person" now... But I'm right there with you.

16

Hell yes!

scibO

I couldn't agree more! It would have been so easy to ruin the movie by making it to yet another sponsor showcase with a soundtrack consisting of the latest smash hits to boot.

scibO JDM_Luca jackward Thank you.

86foxmann scibO George Miller said that this doesn't tie in with the original trilogy, its basically a remake/alternate version of the road warrior.

This is the one movie that i'm waiting for (I don't like the modern-hyped hollywd movies, sorry), and when I dug up that's a remake, I was little dissapointed. As someone said- Some legends shouldn't be touched. I remember the rumors from around 2010? It should be placed between 1 and 2. I thought it's gonna be prequel. We'll see, I hope they don't screw this.!  25 years in "development hell" Cant be wasted!
Another thing- a game! Looks superb so far. Why you didn't mention? cause it's not EA? ;)

This looks half way decent.  I was always a big fan of the old ones.  Now I have something to look forward too.

They show the Interceptor being wrecked in the trailer, Boo !

23

Night rider !!...remember him when you look at the night sky.
This series is in my top ten of all time.

Been waiting very long for this...

24

can't wait.....really captures the feel of the original. I had started cursing when I heard it was being remade becuz Mel has gotten a lot older...and then I saw Tom Hardy...epic!!!

25

Cooooooooool!!

With it being between 1 and 2, I was hoping it would be closer to the first (and therefore sort of resemble the recent and excellent The Rover) but from the preview it looks like it could just be a few weeks prior to Mad Max 2.
The actor who played Toe Cutter is back too (although not as Toe Cutter) so that's excellent.

27

but no Bruce Spence booooooooooo

28

Looks terrible to me...

OMG OMG OMG OMG !!!!

Have to admit my interest levels in this film seemed to be raised then lowered again with each subsequent news release.
When I first read there was a new Mad Max coming I really wasn't keen, but the involvement of George Miller raised my interest level and, having watched the trailer, I was starting to think that this might not be the CGI fest I was fearing.
Reading the comments that this is a reboot rather than a continuation has knocked my interest levels back down again though. I originally understood this to be a continuation of the original stories; seeing it as yet another Hollywood "re-imagining" has now taken a lot of the appeal out of it for me.

i didnt realise everyone could be so good looking in a apocalyptic future

Whoops, my bad, hope I didn't offend anyone.
achonroplasiaphobia is the fear of small people. I'm not sure what the fear of MasterBlaster would be called... Or the fear of pigs for that matter....
