“I don’t like money. I like Porsches.” So says the man who eats and sleeps Porsches: Akira Nakai, the mad scientist behind Rauh-Welt Porsches, the widest, wildest 911s on the planet. The crew from Brazilian channel BufalosTV recently took a tour around Nakai-san’s RWB workshop, talking to the man himself and taking a ride in one of the epic RWB Porsches. Here’s the result – turn on YouTube captions for English sub-titles. Raw Rauh-Welt beauty.

Love this guy!

I love this so much!

With Akira Nakai being quite famous now for what he does to Porsches. I wonder why Porsche doesn't treat him the same as Magnus Walker. Magnus Walker is on another planet in the Porsche world, gets invited to everything and anything Porsche, and all the elite car shows. In the end, they do the same thing.

@250SWB how do you know they dont?  The two have met most recently at an event...in Europe
as for how others perceive, taste is relative....regardless if they are both modifying, people are drawn to what they are drawn to

7

@cornerbalance It's not a theory. It's taste. He like Porsches. Full stop. The money aspect that is involved is something he doesn't particularly enjoy and I get that. And yes, without one you can't have the other. But you don't have to enjoy them both.

8

The Porsches aside, that is the most amazing workshop I have ever seen! A junkyard full of the most amazing, unique, and inspiring clutter a mad scientist can find, and from which he designs his mad masterpieces. Basically how I want my garage to look...

9

I couldn't understand most of it, but that did not stop me from downloading it. That was an amazing visual bombardment of coolness. I need to go find a friend who speaks Portuguese because I need to get the whole sense of the interview. Awesome post!

Wildcardfox  there are english captions, you just need to turn them on in the settings :)

I am brazilian and i thought i stood alone in a sea of crappy cars dreaming with the imports. Nakai is inspirational , and Bufalos TV is one of the few automotive shows/channels that raises the level!

stayshift In Brazil, the cheapest porsche can cost over 110.000 USD (that is, paying 100% up front, if you split the bill it can go way more expensive) The average brazilian family of 4 people lives out of 750 USD per month, or 2 times the base salary, in the lower social classes.

Does anyone know the name of the songs played in this video?

14

Sick! Love that engine noise!

15

The director must have been on speed ... too many scenes where i would have liked to see the cars for just that fraction of a sec longer.

16

Extremamente orgulhoso desse vídeo por brasileiros como eu.

i loved this so much. awesome video

@250SWB Porsche does NOT like when tuners modify their creation! Earlier on this month 9FF and SpeedART filed bankruptcy (albeit Speedhunters did NOT touch the subject).
The two tuners went down partially due to the lack of interest and lack of funds from their customers, and partially due to the fact that Porsche increased legal fees against those two tuners.

I foresee Porsche NOT liking what Mr. Nakai and Mr. Walker are doing with their Porsches....

JDMized but that said Nakai-san doesn't touch on modern Porsches. With the cars he works on, he doesn't change the cars completely, he builds upon them. Also he still acknowledges them as Porsches, unlike the other two you mentioned where they seem to turn the Porsche cars into their own brand. Also his creations reminisce old Porsche race cars. Same case with Magnus Walker. He builds upon the cars, not entirely change them. Both Nakai-san and Magnus still retain the car's value, choosing to modify their cars in a way that respects and upholds what the Porsches in those days. Heck Porsche should be please that there is still a wide audience who love their air cooled Porsches. It's what made Porsche. They should realise that nowadays their cars are starting to become quite lame.

Opinions opinions opinions.....
I posted facts!
9FF and SpeedART started their businesses much like Mr. Nakai and Mr. Magnus. Both individuals give THEIR twist to their cars.
You really crack me up! Saying RWB does not alter the body lines....RWB just hacks up the rear quarter panels, adds huge wings and works CLOSELY with Promodet (in charge of tuning RWB engines)....
I can go on and on, but I'll refrain. Thanks for your .02 though :)

I wish he would make a vid of him just cruising around japan with his cars so i can sit and watch it all day.

This is one of the best recent posts on Speedhunters! And it's not because of the RWB content (although that's awesome too!)
The real reason this is among my favorite articles since Sept 18...NO CHAPTERS! ZOMG!
