I guess this one has been a long time coming. How fast #IAMTHESPEEDHUNTER has evolved since its inception is quite staggering actually. This week we’re going to show some love to those of you who have been populating Instagram with some of the best automotive content we’ve ever seen captured on a mobile device.

The constant evolution of the smartphone is really fascinating. My current phone takes a much, much better photo than either of my first two dedicated digital cameras!

Can you imagine what it’s going to be like in say, another five years time?

Smartphone cameras still do have quite a way to go it must be said, but there are plenty of you out there extracting their full current potential.

Having the ability to capture an awesome moment is all well and good, but without a platform to share it with the world, what would be the point?

This is where the likes of Instagram comes in. Again, it’s far from perfect but it has lay the foundations for what will come in the future.

A lot of people criticise the in-app filters, but no one is forcing you to use them. Personally, I like to edit photos on my phone separately and then upload them without any filters.

Some folks like to share what they’ve captured with their DSLRs and that’s cool too. Anything that helps push the entire photography industry as a whole, is good in my book.

What really impresses however – especially through the #IAMTHESPEEDHUNTER tag – is the sheer amount of automotive happenings taking place at any given time.

You can literally see a live view of events around the world as they happen, and long before they appear anywhere else.

Not only that, but you can gather a real sense of the amount of automotive passion out there.

As like-minded folk, I’m sure you’ll agree that we are a minority in the grand scale of things.

But it’s these outlets that allow us to grow stronger and prouder as a community.

What some might see as a simple smartphone shot, we see the elusive moment that we all live for.

My friends prepare, this revolution will be televised.

DO – Submit your best work, regardless of when it was taken.
DO – Take your time shooting and consider each detail
DO – Try to submit each image no larger than 1000PX wide.
DON’T – Put a huge watermark on it. We’ll make sure you’re credited!
DON’T – Send us huge image files that kill our e-mail system!
