Rotary engines are bit like automotive Lego in that you can seemingly attach as many rotors together as you want.
OK, it’s not quite that simple but rotary builders have come up with some truly bonkers setups over the years. The latest comes from New Zealand’s Pulse Performance Race Engineering who has put together a six-rotor monster engine known as the 6B. A few days ago the mad men at PPRE released this video clip showing the 6B as its fired up for the first time. Needless to say, the sounds this thing makes are absolutely insane.
This particular motor is being built for use in an old RX-4 and the company even plans to begin selling 6Bs to the public soon.
Who wants one?

wicked, go the kiwis, how soon before mad mike gets hold of one, not long ill bet.
Now where's the MADBUL??? XD
could this be considered an inline-6? haha.
@catchafox Next Generation on the MadBul i hope it would be insane!
Pretty sure PPRE do mike's motors so no doubt he will get one. Makes me proud to be a kiwi. cant wait to hear that thing find the limiter and see some figures
Only in New Zealand eh
6 rotor housings $4000
18 ceramic apex seals $13,000
36 solid corner seals $250
36 side seals $50
24 o-rings $850
replacing a vast majority of these parts when it hiccups at 100 miles... Rotary Perfection
j/k, that thing is sick! love that it's going into a rx4
spidey senses a new "all motor" record in the near future!
Holy shitcakes that is astonishing! Looks like a real deal monster motor, I love the ITB's on this one. I wonder if it is comparable in length to an RB26 or BMW i6 motor? For some reason I want to go out and engineer a LS1 into a V16 now.
@LS1RX7_owen y u have norotors?
Hahah awesome! That's not gonna pass smog! /kidding I'd love to hear it at full throttle.
@AaronVenable @LS1RX7_owen
He does a cap and rotor.
@LS1RX7_owen caddillac 16 is 2 ls7's molded together
Never thought I would ever see a six rotor put together. So amazing and I hope you guys stay on this so we can see the end result. That thing is going to be insane loud.
I want to see what this will dyno at. Imagine a 6 rotor MADBUL and twin turbo 4 rotor JAPBUL. Awesome!!!

@zackspeed333 What about a 12 rotor?

@Stikitnow In my opinion this would be a total waste in a drift car. Would love to see this in a time attack car or unlimited class racing series where it would actually get to stretch it's legs as opposed to scrubbing off speed sideways.
FUCK YES NEW ZEALAND
Does it fit into an RX-7? If it does, I want!
@StevenWatkinson @Stikitnow Mother of god what do you do with that beast??? Insane stuff out there these days. One day I will have my NA 3rotor FD. One day I tell you.
l automatically thought: Madbull Reloaded
@hellbound_hayride they did his first 4 rotor then Kiwi RE did the one he is running now

@Rü$╫ I can see the CARB refs having a conniption ... Haha. Love the brap brap brap brap brap brap though.
@Rü$╫ NZ emission laws aren't very strict
6 rotors are for newbs 12 rotors ftw http://www.homebuiltairplanes.com/forums/attachments/mazda-rotary/7884d1286629108-mazda-20b-12rotor2.jpg

@motorness Your and idoit, as you can see some just joined 12 rotors together.
Anyone with the ability to breathe would realize that the challenge is making it run and of course useable.
First of all ironic spelling fail. Second none of these engines are really practical so you are splitting hairs. And third for a small guy you don't see to bother with fact checking your own ignorance before posting a rebuttal. Considering there is a w12 rotary that is already sold for racing I don't understand how you came to the conclusion that further stacking rotaries was impossible.

@aybaperformance The w12 is not 'straight' so basically a different engine

What a fuel rail!

From what I hear from people that have close relations with PPRE, the engine isn't going to want to rev as high as say, a 3 rotor would, because of the flexing of the e-shaft. Which is one of the most complex parts about building something that is more than 3 rotors, because you have to be able to engineer something that will work, but not snap in half from the load of all the rotors.
This is so funny, everybody is so caught up with this that they're not actually realizing they're just looking at a sheep in wolfs clothing..
