Random Snap>> The Transporter Bus

Speedhunters reader Matthew Andrew sent through this cool photo that he snapped at Mallala Motor Sport Park in South Australia. It's not often that you see an old bus converted into a race car transporter!

Nice pic. Here in Argentina is very normal to use the old buses for transport racing cars. And then for sleep inside.

2

too sick.

3

There have been hundreds of gutted bus transporters - The Italian Job Leyland being the most famous recently - just check out any oval Hot Rod stock car meet for loads of the rusty buggers!

4

It`s a common thing to do i Norway too. Many old buses become camper/racecar transporter/service station for the teams during raceweekends.

5

yeah, old buses are cheap too. 4 grand for one with 100,000 miles.

6

Australian rednecks?

7

quite a novel idea.. not sure if its cool tho' -

8

Poor seven :(

Should not transported this way!

9

Sweet. I'd like to see more of that FD as well.

10

thats one of the most badass things ive ever seen.

11

Great idea, i love the whole disguise bit. I might look into a bus my self now.

12

That totally reminds me of Italian Job for some reason.

13

Huh, neat. Might be a great solution for budget race-teams.

14

ghetto as fuck!!

15

thats one of the most badass things ive ever seen.

16

this is quiet common in NZ aswell , And not just old buses , it's mostly the dirt track boys.

17

Common in UK also

18

I think I found a new car project!

19

Not as uncommon as you might think down here.

20

Very common in Australia, there'd be a number of them at a national circuit event.

21

Who else thought,

WHY DID YOU TURN?!?!

22

Holy crap, I totally thought of doing this while riding in a school bus in grade 5.

23

Car is nuts, 20b turbo mid mounted. spits flames

24

defo havin a goo of this me with 6 huge vanhool 1991 school buses down the end of the yard

25

ive never seen 1 here in australia like the rx7

26

This is my mates dad bruce's rx7 sports sedan. 20b turbo. very tough car. nothing wrong with transporting cars in buses. if you want to see a real tight fit me and a friend transported an aussie racing car (single seater with 1200cc motorbike engine) in the back of a ford transit van and towed a caravan behind. all the way from tasmania to several v8 supercar events (indy, clipsal, bathurst 12 hour) was good fun on a budget.
