Spotted this video on Youtube of the new 599XX setting a new ‘production-derived sports car’ lap record of 6 min 58.16 sec. The video is worth watching purely just for the aural experience.

Holy cow! That is very very impressive! Super sound, super handling, supercar, super lap! Fantastic!

2

that think isn't road legal, and i hardly doubt, that it is faster, then a gumpert on slicks. anyway, nürburing laptime's are useleth, because the track changes all the time.

3

that car has some crazy ground effects.

4

NIce video but the record is the 6:48 of Radical SR8LM. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0h3I_GTBKLw&feature=player_embedded

5

6.58...holy hell

6

Wow, but whats goin on with the speedo!?

7

Exactly. The record belongs to Radical SR8LM. And that car is road legal. It came on road legal tires, made a lap, and came back to UK on the same tires. Ferrari apparently forgot about that their super ultra 599FXX, which year ago they announced as "Formula 1 car with a rooftop and higly advanced technologies", has 260 HP more than Radical, has active aero and doesn't have a Road Approval, made the Nordschleife lap 10 seconds slower...

And that is amazing? Pfff.

8

bravo quand meme !

9

I was there, I think it was filmed on the Speed Industries trackday and I can only attest to the spine tingling sound it makes.

10

s4jmon, well said.... this is ok for a GT-1 class car...

11

yeah but there is a difference between a production based sports car, and a prototype racecar that comply's with road regulations. the radical looks radically gay, and the ferarri, well, looks badass. and has a roof and windscreen, full rollcage etc.. i guess ferarri could also put signal lights and some modifications to comply with road regulations on an f-1 car and also destroy the 'rings records for a street legal car, which is what it seems like the radical team did, imo. cool vids nonetheless.

12

That record means nothing, its not a street car no matter what they say.

13

well, in germany (as in most other eu countries) there is anyway no way a radical will be street legal, so the radical doesn't count anyway.

ps. and 10sec on the nordschleife are not realy somethink big. its actually the time you lose, depanding on the weather condition (hot, cold, air pressure ..., not even rain)

that is, way nordschleife times are complety useless.

14

Amazing, under 7" for a street derived v12, this is awesome.

15

@ SB

EU countries all have 1 and the same set of regulations, and the radical IS 100% streetlegal

the 599XX has set a new record, but only in the "production-derived sports car" class

the radical however is faster AND streetlegal (even tough i dont know if it still is the fastest there)

but both are the way they are and it aint difficult to make it faster, slap turbo's on either of them and then lets see what insanity happens on the ring :P

16

the facts are.

the radical has passed all E.U tests and regulations .

the ferrari 599xx hasnt passed the E.U tests and regulations .

TELL ME HOW YOU CAN SAY THE RADICAL ISNT STREETLEGAL .

AND TO THE MAN WHO SAYS 10 SECONDS ISNT MUCH ON THE NORD , -- 'BALLS'

17

TO -- 'SPRINTER D' . how is the radical a prototype thats just comliant with regs .

-ITS GOT AN ENGINE FROM A MOTORBIKE FOR CHRISTS SAKE .

AS I SAID BEFORE THE RADICAL HAS PASSED ALL TESTS AND REGULATIONS ASKED OF IT THERE FOR ITS . ---- R - O - A - D - L - E - G - A - L . :)

18

the radical may actually actually be street legal but it's still closer to a go kart then the 599. The 599 is more of an actual car then the radical despite legal technicalities.

19

Wether it's street legal or not. Still impressive. I wasn't as stoked by it as the Radical, but this is still amazing. Sounds nice too!!!

20

Actually the time i would really like to see would be from the 599 GTO

21

Radical have the record for a road legal car......end of.

22

Radical looks like small Le Mans Proto and 599xx looks like road-car.

23

@ Zac: Yeah I'm also wondering what kind of time the GTO can put down

24

The Radical could literally race in the GT3 class : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZQ1NBG-BzSo, i'm starting to wonder how the radical is road legal lol

25

@Sinning Saint: i would like to see it beat the gumpert appollo time, would be funy to see a car with style beat a car that comprimised style for speed.
