Jack Davies just submitted this, a render of what he thinks the tuned up Mercedes Benz Shooting Brake concept could be made to look like if Mercedes puts the Brake into production.

This over the Panamera, build it!

Look ! The Mercedes Panamera !

3

I'd lease it for cheap when no one else buys it. Then happily return it before the warranty runs out.

4

Thanks for the feature guys. I agree actually, it does seem very panamera-esque.

5

I don't think this is like the Panamera. The difference is, this is a good-looking car. Nobody can say that about the Panamera.

6

this just screams "Audi" to me, not least because they already have a Shooting Brake concept.

8

that is sexy. im torn between jon sibals renderings of wagons and this merc.

Break... or brake?

10

it's very sleek, a car to compete with the audi wagons i think (should it go into production!)

12

idiots...last time I checked, the Panamera was a four-door hatch, not a CLS station wagon.

13

and you'll have to excuse my intellectual stupidity, but why is it called a shooting brake?

14

@ HRDNTS: break.

15

I genuinely have no idea about the name. Then again most new concepts nowadays have some weird names.

16

why is jesus called jesus? why is beer called beer? why is the shooting break called shooting break?

its rather simple, because someone named it so.

17

In the early 19th century, a brake was a large carriage-frame with no body, used for breaking in young horses. By the late 19th century the meaning had been extended to a large waggonette designed for country use. A "shooting brake" carried a driver and gamekeeper facing forward and up to six sportsmen on longitudinal benches with their dogs, guns and game carried alongside in slat-sided racks.

hmmm do Mercedes need to make this car??.. it looks ok but who is it aimed at?? put some roof rails on it and called it an Estate or Tourer and plenty people will buy it and want one... the 'Marketing Departments' know how to make these new cars desirable fancy ad campaign, pricing structures etc.. maybe in 25+ years time we'll blogging (or my kids) about how rare the the Mecedes Benz Shootng Brake is?.. Remember the Jag XJS version or the Ferrari version.. sadly i do..

19

If you asked me, this ain't no shooting brake but rather a "normal" estate/ station wagon. Shooting brakes have only 3 doors...

Wouldn't shooting brake indicate a two-door http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shooting-brake
