Random Snap>> 500 Dragster

Despite its size, this Fiat 500 drag car is capable of putting some serious rubber on the strip. Not sure what engine is in there but I have seen some before with 427 small blocks for power.

Awesome!!! I've seen pics of the 427 car at SEMA. They had to mod the headlights to bugeye style to clear the engine!

There's a 4WD turbo one of these on one of the 4, 6 & Rotary DVD's from NZ, awesome stuff :)

3

that thing must be SO fast not weighing anything

however i would not wnat to be in it in a crash

really cool thou....smallest dragster ive ever seen

4

Little cars with big engines are always a fun combo.

5

My favorite 500 conversion was with a SMART engine. Saw that on Tipo magazine a while ago. It was such a well thought-out, clean and detailed swap.

6

sweet...now we need someone to shove a hayabusa engine into an Isetta

7

Rasputin - I'm pretty sure the headlamp mod was due to headlamp rules for the North American market back in the 60's. Seen road cars like that

8

thats one of the flushest back wheels ive ever seen

10

Cool as!

I had been thinking about getting one of these as a little daily driver.

In the red colour, flare the guards and put on some wide wheels.

That BAD!!! i would rock that any day lol

12

Sickest post I've seen this week! Nice find!

13

...and that thing's driveshaft has to be, like, a foot long :-D

14

Is that a t-rex it's racing against?

15

siiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiick! i need videos

17

Great car, love the idea.

I am wondering what engine has it because here in Hungary we have some real hardcore drag racing Polski Fiats (which is roughly the same as the F500) and they have huge bodykits and the seat had to be moved backwards just to fit the engine in the front (http://href.hu/x/b7r4 like that - actually it's a Rally Wartburg with a BMW V8). I guess they have 6 cylinder BMW engines or something equal sized. Maybe a rotary would fit well.

19

That must be an animal to control with such a short wheel base!

20

very cool - but FAIL for posting photos of drag cars w/o times!

21

That's so awesome! I want a poster of that shot to hang up in my living room. LOL!

22

There are more Fiat 126 (=Polski) conversions than for the 500 i guess.

Seen 126's with B18 VTEC or 3S-GE engines in the back for example.

23

This is awesome! I do wish we could know what times it was getting though. My LS1 Miata can get crazy enough. I couldn't imagine a shorter wheelbase with even more power! Insane. I love it.

that car is from toronto, iv seen it around, not sure on times tho. back tires look so weird because they are sunk like a foot in on each side.

Check this out ,another little car with a V8 cramed in it . And it turns corners .

An aside, yet still V8 related, in some of the coverage of mooneyes party was a shot of a Mercury with the plate "RATMERC" the caption talks about primer etc, but what it [most likely] refers to is the big block Chev motor, aka Rat motor, under the hood. The original use of "Rat"

Probably VW powered like one of the several 500s/600s in the '70s like the Little Giant Killer www2.cal-look.com/nostalgia/fiatgasser.html and http://www.littlegiantkiller.com/pics.htm
