Event>>hellaflush Continued

It's time for more coverage from Saturday's Hellaflush III meet in the San Francisco Bay Area. I was a bit surprised at the mostly positive reception the first post got, considering how this month's features have been polarizing the readers. Are the athletes and fashionistas (as termed by Rod) finally starting to get along?

Love it or hate it, here's some more flushness for you guys.

Function and fitment don't have to be mutually exclusive, as modeled by this super clean Evo X. The de-winged backside is another nice touch on this car.

Another mildly-done and universally appealing car to get things started – a second generation NSX with BBS LM's.

I still can't believe that just five or six years ago  Toyota Cressidas like this were seen almost exclusively as unwanted relics from the '80s.

The roof rack, the rusted hood, and even an external oil cooler. This EF Civic has it all.

I really love the aero kit on this Z33, now if I could just remember who makes it…

2009, the year of pastel colors and roof racks.

I don't think I've ever seen a current generation Civic sitting lower than this Si sedan. Something about this body style makes it look so right sitting on the ground.

The popularity of Japanese wheels has seems to have exploded among Bimmer owners. This blue 3-series on Work Meisters was one of many BMW's with JDM rollers.

The simple four-spoke design of the Work Equip 01 is such a nice match with the styling of the first generation xB.

Believe it or not, this tan-colored EG Civic was actually one of the finalists for the Speedhunters pick of the show.

We really liked the rare Chevlon wheels, polished to perfection.

S2000 owners came out to Hellaflush III in large numbers. This AP1 on custom-painted Enkeis was part of a big group of S2K's lined up together.

This is the first time I've seen a Mazdaspeed3 done with the flush (but maybe not hellaflush) look. Not bad at all.

There were a lot of Subarus at the meet, but this one seemed to be drawing the most onlookers. BBS LM's have a tendency to do that…

Those who have been following Speedhunters since the beginning will recognize this Z as one of the first cars we featured back in the spring of 2008.

Linhbergh and I weren't sure what to think when we spotted this old Nissan Maxima with a strange bumper cover ziptied onto the front end.

Parked amongst the group of vintage cars at one side of the parking lot was this SR20-swapped S12 200SX.

This street-driven S13 can also be seen sliding around at west coast drift events like the Ziptied All Star Bash.

I'll finish up with this wild Lexus SC that was driven up from SoCal for the event. Look at those rear fenders!

More from Hellaflush III on the way, for now let the debate continue.

The name still makes me cringe a little :P

2

That last car, the black SC, Wasnt that murdered out at the Venice meet a while back? And wasnt that the car in the flyers or whatever?

3

I love when just the appearance of a car can bring out such emotion in the people looking at it. I love seeing steelies and rusty hoods on late model cars, unnecessary jdm/euro accessories, stances that make people wince when the car scrapes over a bump, flared fenders with paint missing because the wheels scraped them too much, etc.

When i read the hate comments left by a good number of people on here it only makes me smile, because i know the owner of the car has done exactly what he wanted to, get a rise out of haters.

Although i think hellaflush and speedhunters need to remain separate sites, cheers for covering an event that is just swimming in haterade.

4

No surprise some more pics of the awesome ef civic with the cool roofrack and bonnet(hood).I presonally think that should have been into the pick of the show.and more pics of the ziptied maxima and the purple s13 aswell. And great coverage as usual.

5

The Equips on that xB are so full of win. Great article

6

That SC looks gross. Too much of a good thing.

7

"because i know the owner of the car has done exactly what he wanted to, get a rise out of haters."

Trash oil pans, underbellies, and sacrificing handing to piss off haters? That's kind of moronic in itself isn't it? Though I dig a majority of the cars in this post, I just can't respect the ultra low ultra gay stretched tires stretched anus ones.

8

finally! and s12!!! love the cressy, any idea of wheel specs?

9

that ap1 on bronze rpf-1's is full of win.

10

orange 350Z has chargespeed aero

11

I think is your best best for the pic. I really love the maxima

12

Yea, it was racerrrex

13

I love the flush/hellaflush style. That being said, could someone please explain staggering wheels on fwd cars so that they "look" rwd? That Mazda is a mild example, but I've seen much worse. Keep up the coverage. Where are those Infinitis?

14

the best car doesnt even get a pic by its self, wats wrong with u? of course im talking about the 510.only 1 crappy pic.u cant pass up a beautiful car like that!

15

Df - I should send you a thousand pics of the C's Garage S13 and illia's FC just to piss you off.

i just dont get how you cant love a really low car.

16

excuse the noobness, what are those rims on the evo x

17

Ya, better be a feature of that nickel dime. Best car there! Love the coverage. That maxmia is funky.

18

I love the hellaflush look. Wish I could afford a good set of wheels for my box. Awesome coverage.

19

@Tom

the wheels are MB Battles, thats my evo btw =).

thanks speedhunters :)

20

Athletes and fashionistas, huh? LOL. Good ones! ;) Guess I'm an athlete between those two in this subject matter.... But I have some fashionista moments. No more being tempted by the SR20's for me, I'm buying my own tomorrow! :D Yippee!

21

i love j@walks's civic hatch!

22

love the evo X, mor pics of it please : )

23

Anybody know the name of the rims on he ef civic?

24

More of the Mazdaspeed3 please!! I'm about to buy one of these and want to see how it could look "flush"!

BTW, what are the wheels on that MS3?

25

why put rear camber that much on a FF car?

27

DAMM SOARERS LOOK SOOOOOO SEXY NO MATTER WHAT YOU DO TO THEM

29

that civic ef modded like "ratstyle" if i'd not mistaken,,,search on youtube

30

@DF whats wrong with stretched tyres??there a necesasity on my 86 means can fit 9s on it to fill arches AND because the tyres are stretched the little standard 4AG can still slide with them so they serve a purpose plus the they look shit cool and anyway some people cant afford quick cars(might be there 1st car etc) so makin them look cool at ridiculously low heights is one of there options.....p.s. that 180 rocks

31

Any Pix Of That Brown S14 In Front Of The Cressida? (Picture #4)

32

I don't understand the tards that still can't figure out why people do staggered on FWD... and say "it has no performance gains." Cars like that are all about style and being low. It's so simple.. they aren't TRACK cars! You get it now folks! Thanks for the extra coverage of HF3 speedhunters! Keep up the good work.

33

@hksalex

Thank you.

If its that important to have rwd/staggered/flush/look/style, why not just buy a rwd. As dumb as this stuff looks to nonbelievers, this all did spring from function. ....having enough horsepower to need wider rear tires for tractions sake, which led to widened fenders.

That being said, I'm building a small ff car, with 16 way coilovers and 15x8s on the way (still wrapping up the swap), It will be flush, but never in all my plans did I see the need to have 2" wider rears. That doesn't seem to make sense on a fwd car. Anyone else?

34

owning a fwd car with a staggered setup, i didnt do it for any performance sake. I did it because 9.5's look too narrow from the rear, the 11's im running give it that wide look. I dont care if i sacrifice some handling, honestly, it being a street car, i cant tell any difference.

35

love the Rsx S12 silvia...thought it was a panda AE86 at first

37

i love the purple bmw, looks clean and well done :):)

38

"2009, the year of pastel colors and roof racks"

i must admit...the roof rack thing kinda got into me...

39

I think HellaFlush is HellaStupid. I mean, car culture all about rims and suspension. Doesn't this remind anyone of the DUB movement, except for wide wheels, ultra low height, and stretched tires? Keep VIP Style elements with VIP cars, and race the Subarus, Evos, and Zs.
