Gallery>>on Track Action In Long Beach

It may be drift month, but I still have some more photos to share from the three days I spent shooting ALMS in Long Beach. After spending the weekend at the LBGP, I really have a new found respect for the people who cover these kinds of races. There is simply so much going on that it's impossible for one person (or even a small group of people) to cover everything. Since I spent all of the race making my way around to different shooting spots, I wasn't even able to follow all the action on the track. Luckily, I was able to catch up a bit on the parts I didn't see for myself when ABC aired the race the following day.

Anyways, here are some more photos from ALMS Long Beach-

This Acura ARX-02a driven by Gil De Ferran and Simon Pagenaud was the winner of the P1 class, and the overall winner of the race. The car actually took some minor damage after making contact with the wall during qualifying on Friday, but that didn't stop the team from earning the P1 victory on Saturday afternoon.

Here you could either say the Falken Porsche is making a left on Pine Ave. OR you can say that it's diving into turn seven. Street courses – you gotta love them.

Late in the race Saturday, the #62 Risi Competizione F430GT pulls through turn seven on its way to a second place finish in GT2.

The GT1 C6.R looking good until the end. This was taken from the photo platform above turn one, which also offers an awesome view of the cars blasting by in the opposite direction towards turn seven.

The packed grandstands along Shoreline Drive turn into a blur as the T-Mobile GT2 Porsche gets runs through turn one after coming down the long front straight.

The Robertson Racing Ford GT just might be the most "beautiful" car on the grid. Agree?

The #92 BMW lets a faster P1 car by late in the race. The difference in classes guarantees plenty of excitement on the track as the Prototype drivers dodge the slower GT cars and the GT drivers keep an eye out for faster traffic in their rearviews.

The Lowe's ARX-01B finished first in the P2 class and rounded out the 123 finish for the Acura prototypes in Long Beach.

Traffic builds the turn 11 hairpin. This IS SoCal right?

The field takes to the track for pace laps following the pre-race ceremonies. Can't you feel the tension?

The #90 BMW sports some makeshift body repair following a collision with the GT2 Corvette driven by Boris Said. Luckily it was mostly cosmetic.

Things didn't go as well for the 'Vette. With just a few laps left in the race, the #28 caught fire in the turn one run-off area. Boris got out unharmed, but there wasn't enough time left to resume the race under green.

Here we see the grime-covered GT2 class winner Flying Lizard Porsche cooling down after a long race.

So while the final couple laps of may have finished under yellow, it was still a fantastic race – especially for a first-timer like myself!
