Random Snap>>get Comfortable

Toyota has always been known as one of Japan's most conservative automakers, especially in the past several years. However, at some point during the early 2000's the green light was given to produce  the limited-run TRD Toyota Comfort GT-Z, powered by a supercharged 3S-FE engine. It only made about 160hp, but it was a big step up from the normal Comfort, which is mostly  used in Japan as a taxi cab. With just 59 Comfort GT-Z's produced, it has to be one of the rarest Japanese performance cars ever made. In a way I suppose it's like a Japanese version of the Chevy Impala SS or Mercury Marauder, both of which where built from popular taxi cab platforms…

Great to see the Comfort GT-Z making it here in Toyota month! :)

I also did blog about the Comfort GT-Z, only one month ago:

There was one of those in D1 (I don't if it was the regular one or the GT-Z)

If its the one on my blogposting with the D1 sticker it is not the regular: it is a turbo-ed GT-Z. ;)

I wonder if Autech ever made a sporty version of the Nissan Crew?

8

i really want to see TRD does something with the propane version. Had too much experience being in one of those propane taxi, wonder how it would react to engine modifications haha

Really interesting. How much does it weigh? Pretty cool that Toyota would build something like this, a factory supercharged, 4door, Japanese taxi? Oh yeah!

@Kioch: Nissan did produce a limited run of the Crew with a RB26DETT.

I don't recall Autech ever putting their hands on this version of the Crew, but who knows!

However you can spot a modified version of the Crew with overfenders in the Daisuke Shouten posting on Nori Yaro:
