Photos Of The Year 2011>> Dino Dalle Carbonare Pt.2

Here is my second selection of shots from 2011, taken from the beginning of May till the end of August. There is no particular order in the way they are laid out, so just scroll down and enjoy.

(Above) Fuji-san as seen from the top of the Hakone Toyo Tires Turnpike, Hakone, Shizuoka-ken, Japan: taken after blasting up the famous stretch of road, previously known as the Hakone Turnpike, in a nimble little Caterham.

My BNR34, Type One, Takaido, Tokyo, Japan: One of the Type One mechanics takes my BNR34 out for a quick drive to check the alignment after it was fitted with the Rigid Collars

Nakai-san, RWB HQ, Kashiwa, Chiba-ken, Japan: Pictures of Nakai-san smoking are so 2010! This year I concentrated in getting his most pissed off looks.

D1 Gran Prix Tokyo Drift, Odaiba, Tokyo, Japan: The sun sets over the futuristic Odaiba neighborhood of Tokyo.

Auto Select R33 GT-R, Osaka, Japan: It may look like a demo car but this is actually a customer owned car, built from scratch to look exactly like the Auto Select demo car. 700 HP monnter for the street.

H.D.O. RA28 Celica GT, D1 Tokyo Tokyo Drift, Odaiba, Tokyo, Japan: Everyone’s favorite vintage Celica doing its thing.

Super Made Onevia, D1 Tokyo Drift, Odaiba, Tokyo, Japan: There is never enough lock.

Federico Sceriffo in his Team Orange Impreza, D1 Tokyo Drift, Odaiba, Tokyo, Japan: Italian drifter Federico Sceriffo has become quite the regular at D1 events over the last few seasons.

Cavallino Ferreo 911; Idlers in Tsukuba; Tsukuba Circuit, Ibaraki-ken, Japan: I bet most people overseas are beginning to think that all Porsches in Japan are RWB-ized. Well not this one.

RWB heaven, Idlers in Tsukuba; Tsukuba Circuit, Ibaraki-ken, Japan: Idlers always serves up paddock-fulls of Porsches.

BN Sports S13; Drift Muscle, Maze Circuit, Niigata-ken, Japan: Maze was one of the most enjoyable circuits to shoot at this year.

Black 180SX, Drift Muscle, Maze Circuit, Niigata-ken, Japan: never forget to bring lots of speed into a corner!

Koguchi in his 180SX, Drift Muscle, Maze Circuit, Niigata-ken, Japan: Koguchi had one of the cleanest cars at the first round of the Drift Muscle

Tarzan Yamada in the Cyber Evo, WTAC, Eastern Creek Raceway, Sydney, Australia: Tarzan Yamada always looks so calm before heading out to break a record. This is just moments before he did just that with the Cyber Evo around Eastern Creek.

Media guys group levitation, WTAC, Eastern Creek Raceway, Sydney, Australia: Professional media guys being very professional.

3UP 180SX, D1 Street Legal, Nikko Circuit, Utsunomiya, Tochigi-ken, Japan: The most important thing at Nikko is making sure you hit the dip at turn 1 to get that front wheel in the air.

Black S15, D1 Street Legal, Nikko Circuit, Utsunomiya, Tochigi-ken, Japan: D1 Street Legal at Nikko was one of the best drift events of the year for me.

The final, D1 Street Legal, Nikko Circuit, Utsunomiya, Tochigi-ken, Japan: Lots of close action!

7’s Meeting 2011, Umihotaru PA, Aqua Line, in the middle of the Tokyo Bay, Japan: When it comes to car meetings there is nothing that can touch the 7’s Day meeting at Daikoku & Umihotaru PAs.

Mad Mike making lots of smoke, WTAC, Eastern Creek Raceway, Sydney, Australia: It was a pleasure to see Mad Mike do his thing behind the wheel of his 4-rotor FD. I had previously seen the car at the D1 round in Okayama a couple of years back but it sounded so much fiercer in Australia.

Honda CR-Z; Honda Style Meet; Honjo Circuit; Saitama-ken, Japan: Honjo Circuit in the summer is always home to tons of track days.

The crowds at WTAC 2011; WTAC, Eastern Creek Raceway, Sydney, Australia: The end of the WTAC. People hanging out on the hill around the final corner waiting for the Tactaloy drift event to start.

AE86 meet; Tsuzuki PA; Kanagawa-ken, Japan: It’s probably the darkest Parking Area in the Tokyo/Yokohama area but Tsuzuki is worth visiting as there is always something cool going on.

Amuse 370Z, Kisarazu, Chiba-ken, Japan: It’s great to see Power House Amuse still coming out with some of the most unique cars in Japan.

Bozz Speed Evo 6, Tsukuba Circuit, Ibaraki-ken, Japan: Function over form.

Dandy Tanaka, Bonneville BNR34, Dandy, Fuchu, Japan: I can’t wait to see this R34 Skyline GT-R blast down the salt flats at Bonneville.

Spiegel supercharged Honda Beat, Esprit, Suzuka, Mie-ken, Japan: This little Beat proves precisely why you should never make assumptions about cars you see in Japan. You never know what is hiding under the hood!

Lexus LFA, Lexus HQ Australia, Sydney, Australia: I still haven’t had a chance to drive the LFA, but at least I was able to shoot it…oh and crank that glorious V10 into life and rev the hell out of it!

Craft A EJ Civic, Honda Style Meet; Honjo Circuit; Saitama-ken, Japan: Craft A in Tokyo create some of the most original Hondas in Japan.

Aoki-san of Revolution, WTAC, Eastern Creek Raceway, Sydney, Australia: Aoki-san at Revolution is behind one of the fastest time attack cars to ever come out of Japan.

FC3S, 7’s Meeting 2011, Daikoku PA, Yokohama, Japan: Nothing short of paradise for rotor heads.

Ferrari 512, Classic Throttle Shop, Sydney, Australia: It was a pleasure to shoot such a stunning selection of classics.

RE Amemiya FD3S, 7’s Meeting 2011, Daikoku PA, Yokohama, Japan: The RE Amemiya posse showing off their rides

Garage Mak Z33, Garage MAK, Nagano, Nagano-ken, Japan: No matter what corner of Japan you travel to, you know you will always find crazy shops building even crazier cars.

WTAC cars leave Japan, Daikoku Futo, Yokohama, Japan: I’ve snuck in and shot so many rides on this particular pier at Daikoku Futo but nothing could have prepared me for a line up like this. The shots I got that hot July day were well worth the sunburn!

The Scorch Racing team, Daikoku Futo, Yokohama, Japan: Under Suzuki has become nothing less than a legend in time attack circles. Will be cool to see just how much faster he can go in 2012

RE Amemiya FD; 7’s Meeting 2011, Umihotaru PA, Aqua Line, in the middle of the Tokyo Bay, Japan: Just can’t get enough of these damn rotaries!

Lonely FC, 7’s Meeting 2011, Umihotaru PA, Aqua Line, in the middle of the Tokyo Bay, Japan: This FC was parked all alone one floor below where the 7’s Day meeting was happening.

Media guys group levitation II, WTAC, Eastern Creek Raceway, Sydney, Australia: Most of us are always running around and trying to get tons of shots when covering events, but there is always a little bit of time to act like children

Keiichi Tsuchiya & Daijiro Inada, Drift Muscle in Maze, Maze Circuit, Niigata-ken, Japan: These guys have had it with D1! Drift Muscle was born this year and I’m curious to see how the series will evolve in 2012.

Rire girls, D1 Tokyo Drift, Odaiba, Tokyo, Japan: What would any Japanese event be without race queens!

Street Special Garage Yawata R35, Aiichi-ken, Japan: Since its launch in 2007 it’s quite amazing the pace that R35 tuning has evolved at. The Garage Yawata R35 is one of the fastest in Japan thanks to a pair of large GReddy turbos.

Shino & her AE86, Drift Muscle, Maze Circuit, Niigata, Japan: Shino from Shino Kouba posing at the first Drift Muscle round in Maze next to her cool little Levin

AE86, MSC, Honjo Circuit, Saitama-ken, Japan: Modern day Takumi Fujiwara?

C33, MSC, Honjo Circuit, Saitama-ken, Japan: I always enjoy shooting at Honjo. It’s such a tight little track that you are open to a ton of different vantage points without walking for miles.

Pentroof BNR34; Omori, Tokyo, Japan: Master engine tuner Kitabayashi-san of Pentroof never fails to impress.

Fitting rigid collars, Type One, Takaido, Tokyo, Japan: I grabbed this shot while the Type One mechanics were fitting the Rigid Collars to my R34.

RE Amemiya FD3S, Kisarazu; Chiba-ken, Japan: There have been quite a few RE Amemiya cars on this post. Can you blame me though? Ama-san sure knows how to make his cars looks like nothing else out there.

STI Subaru Impreza tS; Shizuoka-ken, Japan: You can always count on Hakone to throw up beautiful shooting locations.

Revolution FD3S, WTAC, Eastern Creek Raceway, Sydney, Australia: More rotary goodness.

Cyber Evo; WTAC, Eastern Creek Raceway, Sydney, Australia: Tarzan Yamada wrestling the Cyber Evo around yet another blistering fast lap at WTAC.

I hope you liked this selection. It always surprises me just how much stuff I’ve shot over the course of a year when prepping these posts. But it isn’t over yet, I’ve got my third and final part to post up so make sure you come back and check that out next week!
