Everyone has their own opinions on Tanner Foust and his car but one thing everyone can agree on is that Mr. Foust is a man of immense talent. Check out this mightily impressive, and equally insane, backwards entry at the Road Atlanta Formula D course. It is something we’ve only seen Japanese drivers do! Well, until now at least.

Insane. is that from this weekend?

2

brilliant, period.

too bad the comments are so damn blunt... I know this isnt japan but come on, where's the liveliness?

3

he was the only1 to really put up a smoke screen.

4

Maybe not backwards, but certainly 90 degrees. That's big! Did he duplicate that in tandem? That woulda been rad!

5

Sweet entry.

6

jerseystreet.tv represent!!

7

Thats what she said ... TeeHee!

8

probably the sickest entry I have ever seen, hands down.

9

that would be JerseyStreets.tv ;) Thanks Rich. And thanks to SpeedHunters for posting this up

10

backward entry was really nice but what about completely missed CP?

11

LOL SICK

12

wowwwwwwwwwwwww

13

yes it was a backwards entry but it wasnt a good drift

14

Can you say sideways? Truly insane! Tanner is the man!

15

there has to be some vid from michael essa in his bmw. he had similar entries during fridays practice.

16

No clipping AT ALL, he just overdid it

17

mistake?

18

NICE!!

but where's the Essa footage? lol

19

Still nothing compared to Kawabata's ass-first entry at Okayama last year. Not even close.

20

uhhmmmmmm get off the tanner foust dick micheal essa's entrys were way more beast.

21

yea but idk if he really meant to do that. that looked more like a recovery to me.

22

Tanner has talent, talk crap all ya want but recognize, fools. That being said, Kowabata's entry makes Tanner's look like a sunday drive. Essa's were farther out.

Tanner hatin is becoming so 2009.

23

angry foust, dope run, really awesome, it wouldnt have work without with less powerful cars cause id be to slow for tha next corner

24

wow wow wow

25

It looks cool, but aren't you supposed to be close to that clipping point-cone-thing? Looks like a good recovery.

26

That is frigging tttoooouugggghhhhh!!! God damn,

27

@Alvin yea, the angle is pretty impressive but i think he was way too far away from the first clipping point, and looks like he almost lost it(If Keichi is the judges this will probably compare to Kawabata's ass-first entry(and super smooth line), this is just something we can already can saw in D1 2 years ago

28

Not nearly as crazy as the angles achieved by some japanese drivers, but impressive non the less.

29

did i miss something, why is people hatin on him, looks to be a pretty good driver.

30

Lets see ya'll go out and do that. Correction or not it was a good display of skill.

No need to compare lets just give credit where it is due!

31

@ Skurai: wait til next event, Tanner's gonna be BITTER from being eliminated so early here

32

"Only seen japanese drivers do?"

Wild claims, not taking anything away from how awesome backwards entries are but its not really 'new' any more. Luke Fink and others have been pulling them off in Oz for a while now too, and I'm sure other countries too.

Example, Lloyd Smith, aged like 16 or 17...

33

HATING on the kid. Losers.

34

People are missing the point of this video... yes there have been more impressive backwards entries performed by different drivers at different tracks. Until one of them shows up to Road Atlanta and does so during competition, then it is irrelevant.

35

@ muniom, what both Luke Fink and Foust both have in common is that they are doing backwards entrys but they arent doing good drifts, what Kawabata does was a good drift, you really cant compare the 2 others to what Kawabata did

36

Fink has been doing that shit for ages!

Still damn cool though

37

atleast hes better than mad mike lmao

38

Doing it by mistake is half the fun :)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZXTM22VdUKk

39

fink not doing good drifts wow my friend you must have seen luke drive a daily down the road and thats it cos when he is sliding he is in a league of his own, yeh and tanner foust drives a heap and is a douche so thats why people still dont care

40

in D1, this run won't qualify o_o

41

@tom, i didnt say Fink wasnt a good drifter its just his backwards entrys arent good drifts, compare what he does at mallala to what Kawabata does, watch how Fink creeps towards the apex early and wipes off most of his speed (on a fast corner) and has to turn his front wheels straight then watch how Kawabata does it on corners where you need to wash off speed, he can hold his line and doesnt creep towards the apex early and doesnt have to turn his front wheels straight

42

Completely missed the clipping point.. isnt that the point of drifting???? Hey I could slam up a vid of me paddock bashing, half incontrol half backwards entry no probs.... Y post a vid of a half assed entry and brag about yanks are the best???

43

Michael Essa's backwards entry is a whole lot better then tanner fousts, and he actually is near the clipping point not miles away.

44

Michael Essa's run is a whole lot better.

45

yea brolife u hit the nail on the head he missed the clipping buy a mile. tanners weak

46

Still nothing compared to Kawabata's ass-first entry at Okayama last year. Not even close.

47

not as cool as when he used to do donut's with the Vail Colorado public transportation buses... LOL! :D

48

Tanner hatin is becoming so 2009.

Agreed. I feel he is a little cocky but nothing more what so ever. Plus he can drive a regular race car as well.

I liked it even if he is pushing the cone zone a bit.

49

No one will ever do better then Kawabata in terms of backwards entry. He was the backward entry god. Some may match it, but you cant do better then perfection.

People will try but the God will remain.

50

????? ???? !!!!!!

51

Is a good entry with a lot of angle like should be always.

But the clipping points where miss and Essa don't missed that thing.

This is good for the FD because the drivers have to make better drifts runs and that thing is the important in the drifting he good drifting and not the big industrys with big teams and high cost cars is about of the drifting not the cars and that is one looks like the most important thing in FD.

52

hella haters, this was a very good show of driving skill way to go tanner

53

Road Atlanta was the only round I missed last year on the FD calendar. And the only thing I heard for
