Style From The North

There are a lot of automotive filmmakers out there today producing some great stuff, and the level of creativity among them is constantly on the rise. One whose work we’ve been enjoying lately is Box One Collective based out of Vancouver, BC. The Canadian city is a bit of a hidden gem when it comes to to car culture, and these four Box One productions certainly prove that.

Among the short films Box One has produced is this profile of a Porsche 968 and its owner.

Here’s another that features a radical X8 Toyota Cressida built by the guys at Serial Nine. Like many of the BoxOne films, this one’s got a very street-heavy feel.

That same underground vibe can be felt in this look at a tough-looking Nissan Silvia S14.

Then there’s Box One’s most well known film: Night Run, which takes lots of inspiration from the movie Drive. Never before has going out and getting some gas felt so cool.

Keep up the good work guys!

Vancouver never looked so atmospheric!

2

God damn that FRS though

3

RodChong  Every city looks good when it is dark and you can no longer see the grime...

So many broken looking suspensions. Do not understand. Videos are well made.

4

Single lug wheels on a Cressida? Crazy!

5

Bram  It's just a cover check out :23
Still looks dope.

that night run film is class. Attention on the music as the car doors open and shut brings it to life.

good details on the car too, like the 'no-club' sun strip and 'fuelled by haters' gives the impression that the car and the owner don't take rules from no-one.

pure driving freedom

goatlamb Sure thing. When I was in my early 20s I did not have the resources (the money and maybe the skills) needed to acquire a brand new FR-S with the full RB treatment. While 'fuelled by haters' is a fair statement, there should also be another sticker that indicates 'fuelled by daddy's money'.

On the other hand, I have to admit that I really like this particular Cressida. Cool stuff!

WOOT WOOT REPPING VANCOUVER!

9

it would be nice to be reggie and just have your dady buy you everything and never work and just build cars

Music was legit.. Good vids... nice style

Derelict RodChong

ever been to Vancouver or Toronto? They're night and day compared to NYC

Nothing against these videos, but I feel that in almost every video I see these days its always primarily music, and no exhaust note, or if there is, it's so muted you can't hear it. It just seems like a shame because when I think of cars I always think of the exhaust note that goes with them, to me they're cutting a critical part of the car. I guess I'd just much rather hear the car than music, no matter how good or bad it is, no matter how good the timing is or isn't.

Hey Reggie!

15

@Seeking Perfection Didn't Robert Kochis aka staycrushing cover that with his #momsmoney sticker on his own RB'd FR-S ?

Swonz ssawatsky Derelict RodChong  really?

20

can u post Project information...??

As someone who is from Vancouver, i truly believe it is a hidden gem when it comes to car culture on the west coast.
With our good climate you get a vast arrangement of cars. JDM to Euro to drift to offroad to old time muscle.

But on top of that you get to add in the mixed pot of cultures the people themselves come from.

Good vids. Wonder what josh clason is up to these days. He made those videos for JDM Legends and then planned on this big cross country tour but I don't think he ever did it.

robzor  i thought he did do the cross country trip? i thought that the jdm legends videos as well as the other depth of speed videos were all from his trip? last i heard he's working for Petrolicious now. He puts out - or 'they' put out - a new video about once a week. Check them out man!

24

robzor  I did do it for about 5 months and most of those videos can be viewed on my Vimeo channel.  I am currently heading up most of the videos produced by Petrolicious.

25

Yes. Born and raised.

26

That s14... Real sick!

27

And there is the reason I WILL own a zn6 one day

28

Happy to see my city getting a small bit of coverage on SH. Vancouver has a pretty rad car scene, definitely some of the best in Canada. Keep it coming! @__meghanlynch on instagram for some street sightings in Van City.

Why do Chinese kids try so hard pretending to be Japanese?

30

Not to be the silly one who points it out but... he fills up gas right?  And then he's driving... and the fuel gauge is at 1/4 tank.

31

cdiddydo  Case in point, Weissach's Cars and Coffee meetings during the summer.

Saw some vintage Alfas, a 356 (authentic), Lambos (including a Countach), Ferraris, all manner of Porsches, and a slammed S2000 to top it off.
