In The Moment>> The Upsetting Irwindale

If there's one thing to be said about the top 32 battles of the last round of the 2011 Formula D season, it's the fact that House of Drift's new course layout proved to be a rather upsetting one for a few of the drivers. Both Team Need for Speed drivers have been knocked out of the Top 32 as well as 2010's driver's champion, Vaughn Gittin Jr. Championship contenders, Justin Pawlak and Daijiro Yoshihara, have both moved on to the top 16 and the chase for the crown could even be settled in the final battle.

With the Top 16 just a moments away, there's still a winner to choose and a champion to crown. The sun has set, but things are just about to heat up at Irwindale Speedway….

COME ON DAIIIII!!! leady to lock

I feel that the powers and petty battle was unfair, both of petty's runs and lines were shallow, and his lead run was just speeding and spreading a gap from powers.

What an awesome event thus far. It's crazy how things can turn out.

Team NFS out? dang~

5

THE MOST RIDICULOUS FORMULA DRIFT ROUND I'VE EVER SEEN IN MY 16 YEARS.

Klah:

So true. Matt Powers obviously had the better line and greater angle. Formula Drift needs to revise the criteria for judging because pulling a gap shouldn't be the reason a battle is won.

I watched the livestream for Longberger and Yoshioka battle. Then Petty and Powers. Then I was immediately reminded of why I dont watch Formula D. The judges are blind. I had no idea they "consult" with the instant replay and STILL make the decisions they make. I can't imagine what the rest of the event was like. Congrats to Dai for the accomplishment.
