Great, as all your reports, giving us here in old Austria some insight into Japanese Car culture, we mainly know from model kits and a few Nissan Figaro etc..
The „Speedster“ for sure is a replica, but of a Porsche 550 Spider ( you know, same type like James Dean‘s „Little Bastard“), as it has the narrower 4-stud wheel lug pattern, introduced to Volkswagens in the middle of the 1960ies, so 10 years after the 550.
But it is very nice done and a cool driver, giving its owner a lot of fun and, respect without hood available as well driven in winter. With a nearly unobtainable original 550 no one would do it. And with its low weight and centre of gravity it will be nearly the same fun driving as an original.
