Subaru has announced plans to campaign the BRZ in Japan's Super GT series. Using the experience gained from racing the Legacy B4 in the GT300 class, the BRZ should be ready to race for the 2012 season. Subaru didn't release any details on the new race car aside from this drawing, but they plan to show more at Tokyo Auto Salon in January.

Typical. Toyota Motor Company, racing cars in Super GT that still haven't gone into production. How many years did they run the LFA before they delivered the first pre-ordered production car? How many people are betting that the FRS has an entire production run of 50 units too?

disappointed im hearing of a race version before even seeing a actual production version but hey
I can't wait for them to release. I'm excited to see the fourth major manufacturer in Japan make a bigger stance in Super GT. Hopefully they will have a GT500 entry too. Especially now that I found a way to watch the races in HD the moment after the raceweekend is over for them. Just torrent them!

I have a feeling this may sway A LOT of people from buying the Scion, and instead purchasing the Subbie for the simple fact that it now has a JDM connection far beyond what the Scion will... If it were my money, I would not know where to put it..

Supposedly, yes, it is based off of the FT86 platform. The FT86 is the Scion FRS, which is the Subaru BRZ, which this is based off of.
