Aside from the spectacular environment it’s built around and the atmosphere abuzz within it, the beauty of the Leadfoot Festival lies with the machinery. I’ve been to a lot of car shows and motorsport events during my lifetime thus far, but when you’re talking sheer diversity, nothing has come close to the event created by [...]

Every year I try to shoot at least one hill-climb event. I just love the concept of driving at the limit on a public road with sheer cliffs on one side and a rock wall on the other. I was going through Pikes Peak withdrawals because the 90th running of the Pikes Peak International Hill climb was postponed due [...]

There’s something undeniably fun about being a tourist. When you’re just a temporary transplant you can examine foreign places without the prejudices a native may have unintentionally gathered along the way. For Speedhunting this an ideal setting, free of inhibitions and armed with a camera, we often find ourselves making our best work as tourists. [...]

I knew well before I ever arrived at the Berg Cup that I was going to see some very interesting and unfamiliar cars. What I hadn’t expected was to run into car I know virtually inside and out – the Honda Civic. With all the videos and research I’ve done in the past I had [...]

Although it’s not exactly rocket science, there are a few key elements that make up a great photograph beyond technical understanding and skill. For petrolheads these ingredients are pretty basic, a great car and a great location – Berg Cup provided both in spades. Regardless of lens selection or the cost of the camera body [...]

Of all the different events I’ve attended I must admit that stumbling into a small German town for the 50th running of the Wolsfeld Hill Climb was unquestionably one of the most interesting. Still recovering from a brutal weekend at the Nürburgring followed by a quick stint at Hockenheimring I found myself wading through a [...]

I’ve been fortunate to have experienced some pretty awesome racing in my brief career as an automotive journalist and the more styles I am exposed to the more I am on the hunt for new off chutes to explore. Hill climb is one such form of motorsport I have little experience with, but the German [...]

To finally wrap up our Berg Cup Eschdorf coverage, I’ve put together a variety of desktops for you. I’m actually sort of sad writing this as it means I now have to move on to the next event. Fair enough, the next event is the Nürburging 24HR so it’s not exactly a bad thing (Speedhunter problems) but I’ve got to say I really enjoyed shooting and talking to you about the Eschdorf event. We will be covering more of these events throughout the course of the year including Wolsfeld later this month and Oberhallau in August. It won’t come around soon enough …

I can’t imagine too many places in the world where an entire town (and most of its surrounding areas) could be entirely taken over for a weekend of high octane mayhem. When I arrived on the Friday morning, Eschdorf was practically a ghost town. As the hours rolled on, it slowly came to life and by Saturday morning, the place was in full swing.

Our 2012 S-Chassis Festival may have been a couple weeks ago, but we are always down for some S-Chassis loving. Check out this stunning shot that Bill Washburn of Dent Sport Garage sent me of his radical S13. The photo was taken by Mike Proulx of World Rally Sport during last year’s Mt. Washington Hill [...]

This year's Hillclimb events just got a whole lot more interesting. This BMW E82 has just had its first shakedown. Despite some small electrical problems the car looks like ready to attack the mountains. The car is powered by a JUDD 3.4 litre V8 and pushes 550ps. You can hear the car being fired up [...]

I'm not sure if any of you remember the first spotlight I dedicated to this car ? Right after I featured the car I got a notice that the car had been burned beyond recognition. But this year Team Edlinger returned with a newly built E30 with the same engine and gearbox but with a [...]
