In the eyes of a Speedhunter, the SEMA Show is absolute overload. There are likely hundreds of cars spread across the show which could all be deemed spotlight-worthy, but part of the challenge is narrowing it down to the cars absolutely need to be shared. Sean, Larry, and myself have plenty of SEMA spotlight specials to come, but I’d like to begin with a look at once machine that grabbed my attention as I passed by the Toyo Tire booth this morning.

There isn’t much at the SEMA show that isn’t built to completely devastate the braincells of passers by. Today the Las Vegas convention center is jam packed with parts and cars that are shiny, sparkly and loud, each vying for your attention. As I walked around in disarray I finally snapped to when I stumbled [...]

I suppose it’s only fitting that we begin our main SEMA Show event coverage with a look at the car displays located outside the Las Vegas Convention Center. In the years past we’ve always found that the machines sitting outside to be just as interesting as the ones within the display halls, and this year is no different.

Good evening from Sin City everyone. The 2012 SEMA Show does not officially open until Tuesday morning, but Monday of SEMA Week is an extremely busy day nonetheless. I made the six hour drive into Las Vegas this morning and I’ll soon be joined here by Sean Klingelhoefer, Larry Chen, and of course our fearless leader Rod Chong – who’s probably on a jumbo jet somewhere as I write this.

A few days ago, we received an email from Daryl Scott, a photographer from Seymour, Indiana correcting a recently published story on the “Steam Punked” hot rod I recently shot at SEMA. It turns out that I had incorrectly credited my favourite SEMA 2011 build, it was actually constructed by Slaughterhouse Customs and is called [...]

It’s said that some 100 thousand people attend SEMA each year and I’ll wager a guess, that the vast majority of them are not there to gawk at cars. No, most people go to SEMA to do business: to showcase new products, find new business partners and network, network, network. Sure everyone loves a well [...]

It's likely that Henry Ford would roll over in his grave, if he could see what people were doing to his beloved Model As. It makes you wonder what people will be doing to Honda Civic shells eighty years from now. Transformed into flying cars? Recycling bins? Teleportation pods? This 1930 Model A sedan has [...]

At last year's SEMA Show, we saw a ratty, yet modernized Chrysler wagon known as the Derelict. The Chrysler was built by Icon (the same shop behind the Bronco posted yesterday), and this year at SEMA, they showed another Derelict – this one built out of a 1952 Chevy Business Coupe. Like the Chrysler, this [...]

Some of you may recall, the recent Art of the Badge articles, fellow Speedhunter Jonathan Moore wrote on the subject of classic automotive emblems at recent Goodwood Revival. These articles had a bit of a shockwave effect on the rest of the Speedhunters team, as it made us rethink a little bit about how we [...]

In just a couple days a group of Speedhunters will be converging on Las Vegas to cover one of the largest and most influential auto events of the year – the SEMA Show. Before we make our way to Sin City, here's just a small taste of what we can expect to see in the [...]

Has it already been a full month since the SEMA Show? It sure doesn't feel like it. For my final SEMA Car Spotlight, I wanted to share this KP61 Toyota Starlet I found hiding in the corner of one of the display halls. I was amazed at how much attention the Japanese classic was getting. [...]

Time for my final review of SEMA. I hope these reviews have given you a good insight into this huge trade show. Back to the cars. The Honda stand was simple and low budget (hey, Green carpet, we have a stand!), but had a great variety of CR-Z’s from various builders including in-house 'Honda Design' (Red CR-Z) and Honda [...]

We hope you are enjoying our extensive coverage of SEMA. This time around, I’ll focus on some of the European and Exotic vehicles at the show. There is always a lack of European cars at SEMA, this year was no exception. Despite this, there were a few highlights. This always had a crowd around it. A BMW [...]

At the SEMA show, you see lots of brand new customized vehicles, and lots of heavily modified classics from the '50s, '60s, and '70s. What you don't see are a lot of cars from the 1990's and early 2000's. That's a big part of the reason I was drawn to this E38 BMW 7-Series. Since [...]

As I walked around the massive SEMA Show, I kept my usual eye out for Spotlight-worthy cars. There's never a shortage of these at the show, and I happened to find a few which fit right into our current Haulers and Sedans theme. This '52 Chrysler Town and Country known as the "Derelict" is certainly [...]
