It’s right back at Daikoku PA now for a final look at the other day’s supercar gathering. During the few hours that I was there I literally never stopped walking around, because as cars left, more kept coming in. By around lunch time the lot was so full that a many were forced to park [...]

It’s not often that I go to Daikoku PA during daytime, but a couple of days ago I made an exception. I’d heard that a lot of supercars and various car clubs would be holding a meeting across a series of parking areas, starting off at Tsuzuki in Yokohama and eventually ending up at the [...]

When I started writing this post I figured it would be a great to include the exact amount of photos I shot this entire year. Well I got halfway and realized that it might as well be one trillion, because that was how many it felt like I had shot. This past year was a growing year [...]

With so much car culture around the globe, it can be quite difficult to have an in-depth knowledge of each particular scene. Ever since taking over the running of the #IAMTHESPEEDHUNTER program, I have been exposed to whole new worlds that I previously had only admired from afar. A couple of weeks back I got [...]

From time to time we like to break down our event coverage to the micro level. We’ll spend time looking at a very specific part of an event, sometimes it’s paintjobs, sometimes it’s wheels, sometimes it’s engine bays and occasionally it’s something else. I figured Sunday’s Autofashion VIP Festival would be the perfect place to apply this strategy with a look at some old fashioned Wheelhunting.

You might imagine October and November as being slow times in the Speedhunting universe, but here in my part of the world that couldn’t be farther from the truth. The last few weeks have been non-stop events, starting at Formula Drift Irwindale, then All Star Bash and the Hot Rod Reunion the next weekend, followed by the madness of SEMA. It doesn’t end there though. Before I even had a chance to recover from a week in Vegas I was plotting a course south from Nevada, heading to the beautiful city of San Diego.

It’s Saturday afternoon at Irwindale Speedway. The gates have just opened and drift fans are lining up to get inside the track. An endless procession of cars pulls into the parking lot under traffic direction for the Irwindale Police Department. At this moment I’m walking away from the track and toward the parking lot with my camera in hand, glancing down the rows of vehicles. I must have looked pretty strange.

I think it’s safe to say that every member of the Speedhunters team present at Irwindale Speedway this weekend is feeling pretty exhausted at this point. Whether it was working on our #FEATURETHIS or #IAMTHESPEEDHUNTER activities, chatting with readers in the Speedhunters booth, or recording the nail-biting action that unfolded on track Saturday evening, we [...]

After attending so many car shows in Holland over the years I had started feeling a bit jaded and found that the only reason I was visiting the shows was because of the friends I had made. The car shows became boring because there wasn’t really anything new to see – all shows started to [...]

Trax might be short and sweet, with Silverstone filled from just after dawn and empty at dusk during the single Sunday of the event, but the 2012 edition proved to be another knock-out. Sometimes literally, in the case of our poor Speedhunting girls. A combination of drifting, car clubs, gymkhana, BMX stunt bikes, tuning, track-day [...]

There are some events that you can attend where you just know it’s going to be a great day even before you even arrive. The UK’s Retro Rides Gathering, held again this year at the beautiful Prescott Speed Hill Climb, was one of those days. I find it’s all to do with location and the [...]

This year’s Retro Rides Gathering returned to the magnificent Prescott Speed Hill Climb, buried deep in the rural countryside of Gloucestershire in the UK. It was a fantastic day of sun and amazing builds, and the Gathering showed off its expectedly hugely eclectic turn-out of cars in the club corrals under the orchard trees at [...]

Sometimes it’s not the idea, rather the execution of said idea that makes the difference. This is certainly not the first F20c Honda S2000 powered AE86 we’ve featured on these pages, and it certainly won’t be the last. However this a car that is more than the sum of its parts.

With so many events to cover on the Speedhunters calendar, a well organised meet is a welcome break in pace. The day before Ford Fair, I made my way across the M4 in the UK towards Ace Cafe near Wembley for the second annual Retro Toyota Gathering. Ace Cafe which originally opened in the late [...]

In the sport of baseball the term “doubleheader” refers two games played consecutively by the same teams on the same day. In the sport of Speedhunting a doubleheader is anytime you shoot two separate events, or cars, at two separate locations in the same day. Saturday would be one of what will only be plenty [...]
