I cannot remember the last time that I was as excited about a car as I am the FR-S you’re looking at right now. That’s a pretty bold statement when you take into account how difficult it has become for anything automotive to knock my socks off, and even more so when you consider that [...]

The time attack scene in Japan is just about to begin. As the summer’s scorching temperatures begin to fall, as hazy humidity gives way to crispy blue skies, race tracks begin to populate with a special breed of enthusiasts. Shooting for the ultimate lap has become somewhat of a way of life for some, Scorch [...]

There are two very distinct schools of thought when it comes to approaching modern day classics. A lot out there appreciate authenticity, striving to bring back a particular car’s beauty and performance without striving too far from its originality. There are others of course, that think quite differently. Tomoya Watanabe belongs to the latter group. [...]

Those of you that read Rod’s editorial for this month will remember that he likes to think of Speedhunting as a verb. For anyone still confused at what this means exactly, let me add two adjectives that further describe Speedhunting: jet lagged and delirious. While this job is one of the more exciting occupations I [...]

It’s early 2010 and Romain can now speak English. He was firmly in the UK and he wasn’t going back to France. As he explains, “We’d rented the dyno at Eurospec in Guildford, so I ended up coming to work here. I do their rolling road work and mapping.” That was two and half years [...]

Have you ever questioned your levels of dedication? Quite often a project will put you to the test, whether there is a particular engineering problem to solve, or maybe it’s a case of putting in extra work hours to just get the funds together, ultimately the responsibility is yours and yours alone. Nobody made you [...]

Nothing is as it seems at Gatebil. One thing you can be certain of however is that pretty much every car there might as well deserve its very own feature. I have never come across an event quite like it and I felt like a child in a candy store when it came to picking [...]

When does passion turn into obsession? There is a fine line between doing something for a bit of fun and devoting all your spare time to a particular hobby. When it comes to the Japanese time attack scene it’s hard not to use Under Suzuki as the perfect example of this, a pharmacist by trade [...]

We have an exciting weekend coming up here in Japan. For the second time since I’ve been covering the 7′s Day gathering in Daikoku PA, the 7th of July will be on a Saturday which potentially means it could be a very large gathering, maybe as big as the “777″ day back in 2007! So [...]

It’s been a tough last couple of weeks for the Japanese teams that will be participating at this year’s World Time Attack Challenge (WTAC) down in Australia. With everyone after a win, or at least a podium finish, there has been a ton of fine tuning, testing and developing that needed to be done and [...]

The key to being truly great at something in this life requires dedication, hard work and, most of all, repetition. As the saying goes, practice often makes perfect but as one gets ever nearer to perfection boredom is often a bi-product. In the case of a Speedhunter, we’re dedicated to keeping you up to date [...]

What exactly is a time attack car? While the question is simple, the answer is anything but. Time attack purists will argue that a time attack car is is a street going vehicle moderately converted to a competition car. Some have a more lax view on the subject and consider any car that is competing at a time attack event a valid TA car, while the purists will cry foul when a car specifically built for race duty changes tasks.

The thing with history is that you can’t change it, what has been done is there for perpetuity. You can try and hide it, paint it in a different light or cherry pick the best bits if you want but that’s your choice. Ron Kidell has history and we’d love for you to know it [...]

There are days where things just don’t go your way. Then there are days like last Friday. I was shooting near the beach in the beautiful Southern California city of Malibu, when I stumbled upon this marvel of a street car. This 2005 Lotus Elise was simply one of the most extensively modified street cars [...]

For my last selection of the Game Changers theme that we've had this month I decided to pick another GT-R, the Garage Kagotani BNR34. It was a car that appeared as quickly as it disappeared, it surprised everyone at the 2005 Tsukuba Super Battle by coming in third position with a 57"232 lap, and that [...]
