Ok, I’m going to be completely straight with you. Before this shoot, I didn’t know a huge amount about gasser cars. So this was an incredibly cool experience. It also transpired pretty quickly that this wasn’t actually a gasser – simply a car that has elements of the style. Actually this car has lots of [...]

It’s not often I get nervous when I’m thrown the keys to someone else’s car, but then again the ’56 Cadillac I just buckled up in certainly isn’t your average ride – or at least the average when it comes to cars that I’m accustomed to driving. Piloting, or in this case ‘captaining’, a left-hand-drive [...]

So there I was, an Italian photojournalist in Yokohama’s Chinatown district, shooting an American hot rod, built and owned by a Japanese guy. I just had to smile. True passion obviously has no borders, nor do actual styles. And seeing how well Japan manages to integrate tradition, modernity and western culture – the choice of [...]

I know this is a pretty bold statement, but this is probably going to be the coolest thing you see all day. Hell, if you’re a Porsche fanatic like myself, it might be the coolest car you see all month. What I’m talking about is the legendary Urban Outlaw Magnus Walker’s latest creation, the car [...]

’32 Fords are played out. Sure, it’s the quintessential hot rod, but to me that just means everybody has one. In fact, I’m pretty sure there are more reproductions now than Henry Ford even built in 1932. So knowing how I really feel about the Deuce, why are you looking at a ’32 Ford on [...]

Now I’m not quite sure how big this program is in other parts of the world, but here in North America many European manufacturers offer a “European Delivery” option for new car buyers. Instead of picking up a car straight off the lot, or waiting for it to arrive on the truck, you can special order your vehicle and then fly to Europe to tour the factory and take delivery of your new machine right then and there. After that, the new car owners are able to experience a great European vacation behind the wheel of their new car – sightseeing, driving the Autobahn, visiting the Nurburgring and so forth.

As I mentioned during my main event coverage, Bonneville Speed Week is full of stories. Stories about racers pushing their cars to the absolute limit across the salt flats, late night campfires full of stories from the past, and the stories of the journey to the salt itself. It’s more than an auto race and it’s more than a car show – Bonneville is a pilgrimage. Making the trip to the salt in a rental car or a brand new pickup truck with the air conditioning and satellite radio blasting is one thing, but many choose come to Bonneville in their hand-built Hot Rods. These cars don’t come to compete, but they have become just as an important and memorable part of Speed Week as the streamliners that shoot across the salt going hundreds of miles an hour.

How many of you consider Speedhunters to be an American website? Quite a lot I would imagine? Perhaps you’d be surprised to know that Speedhunters HQ is in fact based in Vancouver, Canada. This misconception of nationality might be based on the fact that we don’t really feature a lot of our local [...]

Let’s imagine we’ve just set eyes on this little red wagon/estate for the first time. At a quick glance, it looks like some kind of vintage Ferrari machine. Perhaps the wheels are too large and the stance too low for it to be 100% original, but it does have a pure classic style going. Did [...]

When you’re at Bonneville you see all sorts of crazy contraptions while walking (and driving) around the five mile long pit and spectator area. You witness things that can rocket to speeds just shy of 400 miles per hour to things that are created to look the best while flossing at 20 miles per hour. [...]

The first time I saw this car, it was at the Toyota booth at SEMA. Since I spent soooo much time drooling and just plain jocking this FJ45, I was obviously very happy to run into it again this year at JCCS. This car is a definite head turner because at first, you’re really not [...]
