I think it's kind of funny how automakers say they will unveil their new models at big auto shows. I always picture a a cover being whisked awayas flash bulbs fire at the just-revealed car, but it lately it seems that's not really how it is. The new 2010 Mustang was said to be revealed at this month's LA Auto Show, but here we are with the fully revealed car long before the show opens it doors. I guess that's just how things are in today's times. Anyways, on to the new 'Stang....

All our eyes are focused on the Red Bull World Drifting Championship, we would almost forget that the Spoon NSX-R is doing its round during the Macua GP . Mike featured the car already but not in the state it is now. The driver, Tatsuru Ichishima, crashed the car after qualifying in 9 th place. In the last corner he lost control and crashed the car. Luckily the driver walked away without any harm, we only hope they can repair the car in time for the race. -Jeroen Willemsen Found on GT Channel

Speedhunter Vaughn Gittin Jr. just sent us a small teaser photo of his new 2010 Mustang drift car that he will be driving next year. The teaser may not reveal a whole lot, but it won't be too much longer until the full car is revealed next week on live Speed TV ahead of the car's official debut at the LA Auto Show. To see the car on Speed, November 18 at 8pm PST/ 11pm EST will be the time to tune in . I think it's pretty cool that the drift version of the car will debut ahead of the street car and can't wait to see what the finished product looks like....

Here's an interesting piece of news for Nissan Month. The rumorists at Japan's Best Car Magazine are now speculating that Nissan may release an ultra limited production Le Mans edition of the R35 GT-R. With roots going back to the old school LM R33's, the new car will supposedly push out out somewhere around 600hp and include a number of other upgrades from the "standard" GT-R. In addition to the street car, an actual competition car is also said to be in the works for Le Mans. If this rumor turns out to be true, the car will be even faster than the upcoming V-spec model. Of course you can't take these rumors all too seriously, but I don't think it would be too surprising considering what Nissan has already done with the GT-R....

The Formula D guys have been very busy preparing for this weekend's Red Bull Drifting World Championship in Long Beach. They recently posted some photos on the official Formula D blog of the course construction that is going on at the Port of Long Beach right now. It looks like its shaping up to be a pretty interesting course and and the towering cranes and container ships make for a dramatic backdrop....

With the SEMA show in Vegas this week, there will be plenty of big news coming out of the tuning and motorsport world. Our first bit of news this week comes from Falken Tire who have announced their 2009 drift team with a number of changes and additions. Falken Tire is the biggest and longest-running supporter of pro drifting in the US, and they are going to be taking things even further next year....

Tonight is Halloween night. While many people spent the night trick-or-treating or braving haunted houses with ghosts, graveyards, cobwebs and RIP signs , there appears to be an all-too-real RIP sign in the ground for our friends at RiceboyTV.com . It hasn't been officially announced yet, but a lot of people in the industry have been talking about it today... and I guess news travels fast! Just before you think I'm trying to spread bad rumors about other websites, hold your horses... when...

Wow, I didn't see this one coming! Apparently, the folks at Scion are very happy with the way things have been going thus far in their inaugural season of Formula Drift. Kenshiro Gushi and his RS*R Scion TC finished in 14th place in the 2008 Formula D rankings, appearing in the Top 16 tandem drift competition at four different Formula D Championship round events. Kenshiro sure has come a long way from the beige metallic colored SR20 powered PS13 240SX he started with when I first met him at his...

I just got back to my apartment in Tsukuba City after the LONG drive home from Fuji Speedway. Driving the highways in Japan is NOTHING like in the US and let's just say that a Sunday night is not the ideal time to be driving on the Tomei Expressway coming back from the tourist haven of Mt. Fuji. I'm about ready to fall asleep here at the computer, but before I do I wanted to post the top 10 finishers from today's event and 2008 D1GP season champion....

With less than a month to go until the first ever Red Bull World Drift Championship in Long Beach, the identities of the international drivers on the roster is continuing to be finalized. The latest drivers to be announced are from the European Drift Championship and include '08 series champion Ben Broke Smith in his JZX81 Toyota Chaser as well as '08 runner-up Tim Marshall in his Chevy V8-powered R33 Skyline. Both of the cars have already left the UK on their voyage to California where they will be supported and hosted by HKS USA....

With yesterday's season finale at Irwindale Speedway, the fifth season of Formula Drift is in the books and that means in addition to the series champ, 16 of the drivers for next month's Red Bull World Drifting Championship have also been finalized. Before getting into the season standings, congrats must go to our own Vaughn Gittin Jr. for his win at Irwindale which marked his first career victory in Formula D. More congrats should go to rising driver Justin Pawlak for taking third place in his FC3S and of course to Tanner Faust for second place in the event and more notably his second consecutive Formula D championship....

The crew at Spoon Sports has been really busying getting their new NSX-R race car ready for next month's Macau Grand Prix. After first bringing the car out to the I Heart Honda!! event at Tsukuba Circuit last month, they continued their preparations by taking the NSX to Sportsland Sugo in Miyagi Prefecture yesterday for some testing. Yoshi at Spoon has been keeping me updated on the progress of the car and he sent me some photos taken yesterday during the testing session....

We always like to show support for our favorite magazines and websites, and Japanese Nostalgic Car is one of the most dedicated enthusiast websites/publications around. After debuting their first print magazine issue earlier this year, they have just finished their second issue which will be received by subscribers soon. After glancing at the cover, it looks like it will again be packed full of cool stuff about old school Japanese iron......

Wow, that was a great qualifying session! Just like a sprint race. Allan McNish put in some really quick times early in the Qualifying session earlier this afternoon and with five minutes to go the Audi Engineer told Allan he could come in to the pits, his pole position was safe... However,,,,as Allan was exiting his car, Stephane Sarrazin took pole, by just 0.08 of second. An amazing performance by both teams. Given that everyone thought Peugeot would dominate qualifying, it was an impressive performance...

In our second post we will look at the Asian and North American manufactures who launched products at the show. Hyundai Genesis Coupe- Hyundai showed this body kitted version of their soon to be launched Genesis Coupe which has been seen in North America. The Kia-Hyundai group continue to launch massively improved cars.I can't get use to that rear quarter window! Honda Insight- Looks like a well designed Prius a bit doesn't it? Well, the similarities do not end there. This is Honda's...

The Paris Motor Show is currently taking place in France. Lots of car launches have been announced so following the success of our London round up, here comes the first of two posts on the French show. In this post we concentrate on the European cars. The most talked about car at the show was the new Lamborghini Estoque concept. We'll talk about that in a minute, but I'll focus on a couple of more affordable cars first. Volkswagen Golf GTi Concept Doesn't seem that long ago that the 5th...

With the first ever Red Bull Drifting World Championship only a month and half away, the official Formula D blog has been abuzz with announcements about the upcoming event. The latest news is about a pair of BMW drivers from the Netherlands who will be competing. The first one is Remmo Niezen and his V8-powered E30 from the International Drift Series, and the second is Paul Vlasblom, one of Europe's most established drifters who has been seen drifting all over Europe in his famous E36 wagon. Paul actually traveled to the USA for the D1GP All Star event last year, but a customs mix up left him car-less at Irwindale....
