Tsukuba Circuit, a place that every fan of Japanese car tuning should be familiar with. Tsukuba may not host large events like Formula 1 or even Super GT, but it's still one of the most recognized racing circuits in Japan, if not the world. It's been featured in countless videos, games, and magazines, and it's the birthplace of time attack competition. I guess I sort of lucked out marrying a girl that happens to come from the Tsukuba area. I have been to this track so much over the past year that it sort of feels like a second home to me. You have seen tons of Tsukuba event photos from me here on Speedhunters, but this time I want to present a photo tour that provides a closer look at the iconic track....

Regular readers will know that September is Porsche month here on SpeedHunters and Rod, Antonio and I trekked around Europe back in July eventually reaching Spa Francorchamps for the annual 24 Hours race. So what better way to round off a month considering the best of Porsche with a homage to one of the great temples of speed, the old Spa Francorchamps circuit. Many of you will know already of Spa, where the Grand prix circus plies its trade annually, treating the difficult, very fast track with...

As we prepare to wrap up our Porsche themed month here on Speedhunters, I thought I'd post some photos of FIA GT cars running uphill at one of the most famous corners in the world of GT racing and Formula One - Eau Rouge . This famously treacherous corner is part of the Circuit de Spa Francorchamps in Belgium. Eau Rouge gets its name from a Belgian stream/river by the same name; the famous uphill corner is located at the point where the Spa circuit crosses over the stream. Above is a photo I...

Nikko, Japan is a scenic and popular tourist location from people all over the world who want to check out some traditional Japanese culture on their trips to to Japan. Visitors can hop on a bus in Tokyo and take the trip a few hours north to see Nikko's historic Tosho-gu shrine and its famous monkey sculptures, the ones that originated the phrase "see no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil". While "that" Nikko is certainly interesting, as a car freak I think tour companies should also offer trips to Nikko Circuit, one of Japan's most famous drift courses....

One of the cooler things we did while on we were on the Speedhunters Euro Trip was visit the Porsche Leipzig facility and test track in Germany. Driving through the German countryside, I was amazed at the things I saw - gorgeous green rolling hills, lots of modern looking white windmills, and pre- World War II brick buildings. I was even more amazed when I realized we were driving roughly 200km/h on the Autobahn in our hybrid Lexus SUV bumping NWA out of Rod's iPod. Hilarious!!! For those of...

If you mention "Tsukuba" to any enthusiast of Japanese car tuning, then they will probably picture Tsukuba Circuit, the legendary race track which is known as the birthplace of time attack competition. However, about 12 miles from the circuit itself and 10 miles from the center of Tsukuba City, you will find the twin peaks of Mt. Tsukuba towering above the flat countryside. Mt. Tsukuba is quite well known in Japan and is one of the biggest mountains in the Kanto area. Every weekend, it...

Incredible. As an international Speedhunter, I do realize that many people would kill for the opportunities to do the things that I do on a daily basis. However, every once in a while, I get a chance to experience moments in life that even take my breath away. One such moment was my recent trip to Brooklands - the first motor racing circuit in the WORLD . Yes, Brooklands was the first circuit to be built exclusively for motor racing. Prior to Brooklands, races only took place on pre-paved street...

Meeting your heroes can be a unsettling experience, for both parties, and it almost unheard of that the encounter should take place on the turf that made the recipient of the admiration famous……….you won’t get to play golf with Tiger nor box with Ali…… But like all rules, there are exceptions. Take a piece of tarmac in rural France somewhere south west of Paris. It used to be the main link between two cities and had a Route Nationale designation but with the...
