Because it is Nissan month I thought it would be a good idea to let you choose which Nissan you think is the best car in the 2008 D1GP season. I'm not interested in which car has the most top 3 finishes or the car with the most horsepower. I just want to know which one is your personal favorite. The car in the opening picture has seen a lot of transformations and belongs to crowd favorite Ken Nomura. Of course it's my favorite car because I have driven his Street legal version for a few years...

Throughout this month I'm going to be digging through my archive of old photos and posting up some of my favorite Nissan shots from various events and track days here in Japan. First up, I wanted to look at some the Nissan Silvia and 180SX grip/time attack cars that I have seen at Tsukuba Circuit over the past several months. When it comes to time attack cars, the AWD GT-R, Evo, Impreza, and the FR S2000 and FD3S come to mind, but the S-chassis also has very large following among grip racers in Japan....

They say that racing improves the breed, they also say that win on Sunday, sell on Monday. Both are clichés but contain more than a grain of truth. And that truth provides the motivation for the Driftworks Company to showcase the products available at their on line store. Of course having a bit of fun along the way also plays a part too, as Phil Morrison admitted to me. Driftworks was set up nearly 5 years ago and provides a top quality parts services to all levels of the drifting community...

Over the course of the next month you are going to be bombarded with Nissan material from all corners of the globe, and seeing as how I'm based in Japan, I figured I'd do a quick little "tribute" of sorts to Nissans in their homeland. From the earliest models to the newest Fairlady Z and GT-R, fixed up Nissans are all over the place here. Whether you are talking about a circuit-tuned Nissan March compact car, a VIP Nissan President, a time attack GT-R, or a 180SX drift car, you...

The S14 Silvia from the Magician drift team always seems to be popular, so how about a high res desktop wallpaper of it? I shot this photo during the recent MSC event at Nikko Circuit and if you look closely you can see that the Magican decal on the driver's helmet is almost aligned with the decal on the windshield. I thought that was kind of cool.
Anyways, head to the Desktops section to download it in both widescreen and standard versions....

We're at the Super GT race at Suzuka Circuit right now, but we're on a break... so instead of walking around downstairs trying to get phone numbers from umbrella girls, I thought I'd just post some photos I shot from the Ebisu Circuit Natsumatsuri... here's some detail photos of the black S15 Silvia that I saw over at Ebisu West Course. The car was built by Ohki-san at Tex Modify in Ibaragi Japan. You can tell from the exterior, the car looks pretty menacing because of the low stance...

It's time to finish up our week-long look at the cars of the various international drift series as we examine some of the cars from the European Drift Championship. Before working on Speedhunters, I had only a vague knowledge of the EDC, but I have been learning more and more about the series and its cars over the past few months and have been quite impressed with what I have seen. While you won't find quite the variety of cars that you see in the US Formula D series, the EDC has plenty of top quality cars and they seem to be getting better and better......

Snakes, Kangaroos, Koalas, and drifting. The adventurous Aussies have a love of drifting that can rival any other country in the world and when it comes to Australian drifting, the Toyo Tires Drift Australia Series is where you will find the country's best drivers and most serious drift cars. For this post we will be taking a look at some of the notable cars that can be seen competing in the Drift Australia series. You will find that some of the cars in the series fall under the category of "traditional" Japanese style drift cars while others bring a unique Aussie approach to drift car style......

Yesterday we took a look at some of the cars seen in Japan's top level D1GP series but now it's time to take a look at the other side of the Japanese drift spectrum. the MSC Challenge series. Since MSC is a grassroots level series filled with privateer drivers, you have to look at the MSC cars from a different viewpoint than the pro level cars seen in D1. MSC events are held at all corners of Japan from Kyushu in the south to Hokkaido in the north, so few or no drivers compete in every event. Because of this, you also get a wide variety of cars depending on the region the event is being held in. I will try to show some of the more interesting and unique cars seen at MSC events as well as some of my personal favorites from the series......

Just a really cool shot of Yashio Factory's Kazuyoshi "Oka-Chan" Okamura having some fun in his new S15 Silvia demo car. The new aero looks really fresh with the car's white paint and matching white Advan RGII's. An interesting contrast from the pink and gold seen on mosy YF cars. Even six years after it was discontinued, the S15's styling continues to look modern alongside today's cars......

As another introductory article for our focus on drifting this month, we wanted to do an overview of some of the popular drift car platforms seen around the world. It has been said that any rear wheel drive car as well as many AWD cars or even FWD cars can be "drifted" with the right amount of driver skill, but keep in mind that for this article we are focusing on the most commonly seen platforms in the grassroots/privateer scene. Also we are not dealing with pro cars here, so don't expect to see cars like the Viper and Porsche from Formula D or Kumakubo's Evo as part of this article......

Shot during the latest Drift What You Brung event on Santa Pod in the UK, the Driftworks S15 looks menacing even without the frontbumper. The car has too much to feature to just mention here in a random snap so expect a full feature soon. The picture was shot by Sbooker, a member on the Driftworks forum . ps, yes that's the exhaust -Jeroen Willemsen

Here we have some more photos from another one of Japan's big tuning shops. Mr. Doricar is a member of the Driftworks forums who lives in central Japan, and he was kind enough to post up some photos from his recent visit to Garage Defend in Aichi Prefecture. Defend is a well known tuner in Japan, and they are particularly famous for their work with Nissan cars and the GT-R in particular. Besides the tuning shop, Defend also operates a fully stocked car dealer that is loaded with top quality performance...

Our friend in Australia Matthew Mead sent us some photos that he snapped this past weekend at a Circuit Club track day at Oran Park South. As you might expect from an Aussie track event, there were a large variety of cars that ranged from tuned Japanese cars to BMW's to Holdens......

Go ahead, say it. (All together now) Daaaaaamnnnnn! I like how the background has the statue of The Thinker, which symbolizes how hard people need to think and plan in order to have a car with such brilliant offset as this S13 Silvia. I started using the term "brilliant offset" when referring to cars because I realized how brilliant and ingenius one must be in order to achieve perfect wheel fitment like this. Many people try but don't come close because they can't figure it out...

With all the buzz about the upcoming Subaru/Toyota FR sports coupe, there hasn't been much talk about oft-rumored revival of the Nissan Silvia. The Silvia is basically the Ford Mustang of Japan, so naturally, the Japanese auto media is in a frenzy anticipating its return. According to an article published recently on 7tune.com, the new car is likely to be of similar size to the old S15 model and should be offered with both naturally aspirated and turbocharged four cylinder engines. Power is estimated...

The S15 Silvia from Rauh Welt is like the cult classic of Japanese tuner cars. It may not have quite the recognition of something like the Cyber Evo or Top Secret Supra, but the people that see this car usually go crazy over it. If the car in the picture above doesn't look familiar, that's because this car used to be painted in a flat black color scheme. If you read Auto Otaku, you have probably seen my photos of the old version. I was at Tsukuba the other day where a number of Rauh Welt...

Our mates from down under were in action again last weekend at Mallala Motorsport Park for the third round ot the Drift Australia series, and Phil Williams was there to capture the event in all of its tire burning glory. The level of the Drift Australia drivers is getting so high now, and Phil's photos do a great job of capturing the feel of Aussie style drifting. Here a few photos from the event- This 180SX with a kouki S14 front end is driven by Leighton Fine and is one of the top cars in the...

"I will never take drifting seriously." Such words can often be heard from Brian Harte of Long Beach, California, the owner and pilot of the blue S14 240SX seen above. In drifting's early days, it was all about going out and having fun with your friends with no worries. There were no sponsors, no rulebooks, and no drama. For Brian, it's all about keeping that original drifting spirit alive. If you are familiar with the scene in Japan, you will probably notice that Brian's car...

Man, Speedhunters hasn't even been live for a week and we already getting all sorts of great content from our readers and forum members. This latest batch of action comes from our forum member, "Snoozin", who was on hand to capture the action during the second round of New Zealand's Stil Vodka Drift Series held at Manfeild. At first I was wondering how the term "Stil Vodka" related to drifting, but then I realized it is the name of the title sponsor. Now everything makes...
