Throughout this month I'm going to be digging through my archive of old photos and posting up some of my favorite Nissan shots from various events and track days here in Japan. First up, I wanted to look at some the Nissan Silvia and 180SX grip/time attack cars that I have seen at Tsukuba Circuit over the past several months. When it comes to time attack cars, the AWD GT-R, Evo, Impreza, and the FR S2000 and FD3S come to mind, but the S-chassis also has very large following among grip racers in Japan....

A couple of days ago I got a tip from one our readers who lives in the UK. He gave me a link and the only thing he said was "I know you will like this". When I pressed the link, I got confronted with the car you see before you and I was blown away. This car has been in the making for the past three years and it started its life as an ‘ordinay' Nissan S14A. When I was browsing through the pictures I didn't recognize the bodykit or any of the other stuff on the car. That's...

When I was looking for some photo's of The Athens Tuning Show I came across a topic on the Driftworks forum, one of the posters there posted a nice collection of photo's of the event. The Athens Tuning Show is the biggest car event in Greece, it's a mix between new cars from manufacturers and tuners from Europe. Together with the indoor show they also have a action arena outside where you can see drifters and some other special acts. This year, same as last year, Team Orange made an appearance...

The S14 Silvia from the Magician drift team always seems to be popular, so how about a high res desktop wallpaper of it? I shot this photo during the recent MSC event at Nikko Circuit and if you look closely you can see that the Magican decal on the driver's helmet is almost aligned with the decal on the windshield. I thought that was kind of cool.
Anyways, head to the Desktops section to download it in both widescreen and standard versions....

Last weekend was a busy one for drift events around the world, and with the coming of fall, many of the international series are starting wrap up their seasons. The fifth and final round of the '08 Drift Australia series was held at Oran Park Raceway last weekend, and not only was the national title up for grabs, but a pair of invitations to the Red Bull drift event in Long Beach were on the line for the top two finishers in the season points standings. How would things down?...

This car has seen so many transformations, I don't even remember how it first started. The car belongs to Mark Arcenal who has designed our Speedhunter logo. I saw the car floating on all the blogs and forums after Mark decided to paint the car ‘battleship gray' with a satin clear coat. Before that the car was green and now it is like you see in the picture, white. Wheels are also subject to change and it seems that with every new color comes a new set of wheels. The wheels you see...

By now you must have seen my fellow Speedhunter Mike Garrett's posting on " The Cars of the D1 Grand Prix ." I thought I'd continue this theme, with photos of the cars in the Formula Drift Championship series. Here are the Top 16 cars (in order, based on the rankings on the Formula D website) in Formula Drift, as well as some other cars that I just thought were interesting! Starting with car number one, we can't forget Tanner Foust and his AEM/Rockstar Z33 350Z (above). He won...

With the popularity of drifting today, there is no shortage of drifting photos to be found on the internet. As I was doing my usual browsing through Flickr this morning, I came across these photos from Polish photographer Michal Chylinski of some recent drift action in Poland. What struck my eye about these pictures is both the angle and composition of the photos, as well as the cars themselves... ...

We've been getting a pretty good response on the photos I shot at the JustDrift/Ziptied All Star Bash 4, so I thought I'd post up some more photos for everyone to check out! Here's the starting grid at the Willow Springs Balcony... it was like a Good Offset Festival , so that definitely brought a smile to my face! It's like... the paint is cool, the aggressive and low aero kits are cool, but the stance is the main thing that makes me think a car looks cool or not. It still holds true...

Everyone's been waiting for more photos from this past weekend's JustDrift/Ziptied.com AllStarBash 4 presented by Federal Tires, so here are some more for ya! I really gotta give props to the drifters and drifting fans from all over the West Coast who braved the 100+ degree heat in Southern California's Mojave Desert; it was ridiculously scorching hot - the type of heat that leaves you sunburnt and sunstroked with heat exhaustion. One thing I feel the need to mention too... even though...

This weekend the Aussie drifters were in action again for the fourth round of the Toyo Tires Drift Australia series at Eastern Creek Raceway. It sounds like it was quite a dramatic contest and Nathan Wong of Speed Shots Photography was at the track to bring a massive amount of event photos......

Last week I mistakenly pointed out that the Ziptied All Star Bash 4 was to be held on June 21st and 22nd at Willow Springs. I was wrong and it is actually being held THIS weekend. That means you still have a chance to go and check it out! This photo was also taken at last summer's event. The red S13 belongs to Aaron of the SoCal drift team Pink Godzira and it is one of the coolest S13's anywhere. Look at that ride height! Since this photo the car has been made over extensively and is now even better. The blue S14 is Brian's car that I featured here a while back. To see tons of cool stuff like this make sure you get out to WSIR this weekend. If you can't make it we will have coverage right here on Speedhunters......

So today I've been thinking about Japan and Hawaii... and as I was looking through some of my photos, I found this cool pic of my friend Hirotaka Hoshino greeting the drifting fans after his performance at Big X at Ebisu West Course. Hoshino owns a custom paint and body shop in Gunma Japan called Hoshino Car Style, and is the leader of a Gunma-based drift team called Geki Kassou Dan . Geki , which means "strong" is a very popular group of young drifters who have a "cool guy"...

"I will never take drifting seriously." Such words can often be heard from Brian Harte of Long Beach, California, the owner and pilot of the blue S14 240SX seen above. In drifting's early days, it was all about going out and having fun with your friends with no worries. There were no sponsors, no rulebooks, and no drama. For Brian, it's all about keeping that original drifting spirit alive. If you are familiar with the scene in Japan, you will probably notice that Brian's car...

This past April, we travelled out to Round One of the European Drift Championship to check out the UK drifting scene. The event was held at the famous race circuit Donington Park and was won by the 2007 European Drift Champion, Brett Castle. We were quite impressed with his drifting skills and also the build quality of his machine. What we were NOT impressed with was the weather! Ack! It’s the first time I’ve seen snow and hail at a drifting event bleck. Froze my butt off! So anyway,...
