Nissan has just debuted its redesigned second generation Cube in Japan, and though that might not like sound like a big deal to people outside of Japan, the new Cube will also be sold in the US starting next year. It will join the Honda Fit, Toyota Yaris, and Scion xB as another entry in the fuel efficient compact wagon segment. The car retains all the funky features of the original Cube and should be similar in size to the original Scion xB....

I think it's kind of funny how automakers say they will unveil their new models at big auto shows. I always picture a a cover being whisked awayas flash bulbs fire at the just-revealed car, but it lately it seems that's not really how it is. The new 2010 Mustang was said to be revealed at this month's LA Auto Show, but here we are with the fully revealed car long before the show opens it doors. I guess that's just how things are in today's times. Anyways, on to the new 'Stang....

Here's an interesting piece of news for Nissan Month. The rumorists at Japan's Best Car Magazine are now speculating that Nissan may release an ultra limited production Le Mans edition of the R35 GT-R. With roots going back to the old school LM R33's, the new car will supposedly push out out somewhere around 600hp and include a number of other upgrades from the "standard" GT-R. In addition to the street car, an actual competition car is also said to be in the works for Le Mans. If this rumor turns out to be true, the car will be even faster than the upcoming V-spec model. Of course you can't take these rumors all too seriously, but I don't think it would be too surprising considering what Nissan has already done with the GT-R....

Tokyo Auto Salon 2008 was all about the GT-R, Evo, and Impreza, and though the Lexus IS-F was already on the market, it didn't have the big showing that those other cars did. It's looking like '09 show might be the time when we see what Japan's tuners are capable of with the IS-F. Wald International has recently shown their new IS-F aero package which is part of its Sports Line series. Like the Sports Line kit for the new GT-R, the IS-F version is quite aggressive in contrast to the rather subtle style of other Wald parts....

So... the veil has been partially lifted.... Nissan has now released three official pictures of the newest and greatest iteration of the much beloved Z; this time called the 370Z for us westerners. Over here at the Speedhunters we have a slightly different perspective on the car to offer our readers. Our colleagues on the Need for Speed team has been very busy collaborating with Nissan on the launch of the new car and have put together a special video showcasing the 370Z inside the upcoming Undercover...

Anyone who says that a minivan can't be cool has probably never seen the Japan market Honda Odyssey. Unlike the US-spec Odyssey which is big, boxy thing, the JDM version is a sleek vehicle that looks more like a wagon than a van. Even though the previous version still looked modern to most, it has already been on the market for several years and Honda has just unveiled the redesigned Japan market Odyssey. Based on the popularity of the outgoing model, Honda kept the changes "evolutionary" instead of drastically altering the proven design....

The 2008 SEMA show is fast approaching, and as the big show draws closer, builders are starting to show off this year's project cars. The new Dodge Challenger will certainly be one of the most popular platforms at this year's show and a number of tuners have already shown their SEMA Challengers. The latest player is Chrysler itself who just unveiled their Dodge Challenger SRT10 Concept. As the name suggests, the Challenger has been outfitted with the 600hp 8.4L V10 from the Dodge Viper and becomes that latest in a long line of Mopars to be stuffed with the big ten-banger over the years....

In my opinion, VW's new Scirocco quite a looker straight off the showroom floor, but there is always room for improvement right? How about this Scirocco from by the German tuning company Oettinger? The car improves on the Scirocco's already wide stance with subtle aero work and a set of ultra wide 20" wheels and tires pushed out to the corners of the car. Performance-wise, the Oettinger-tuned Sciorccos offer power outputs of up to 240hp with even more aggressive engine tuning in the works. Of course upgraded brakes and adjustbable suspension help to balance out the extra power while adding to the the car's aggressive stance....

OK, so it probably sounds strange that there is a NEW car model called the "'33 Hot Rod", but I think that the latest offering from Factory Five Racing certainly qualifies as a "new" car. While old school hot rods are not lacking in character or coolness, the antiquated cars leave a lot to be desired as far as chassis design and performance potential goes. Factory Five Racing is well known for their popular Cobra kits and their latest design puts combines all of their sports and racing experience with all the style and simplicity of traditional hot rods....

The European Civic Hatchback is a popular car on Speedhunters, so this should attract some interest. Its the new Mugen Civic Hatchback concept. However, its currently just a styling exercise. The car was shown at the recent Moscow Motor Show. This may seem a weird choice, but Russia is apparently Europes biggest Auto market. Mugen have traditionally stayed clear of Europe, so this might be a exercise to gauge reaction. Other than the over the top rear wing, I like the design. Its aggressive and sporty...

With most people's attention focused on the rivalry between the Corvette and the GT-R over which can lap the Nurburgring faster, it kind of comes as a surprise to see Chrysler jumping right into it with the new Viper ACR. According to Motor Trend, the ACR has lapped the track in a record braking 7:22.1. As expected, the barely-street legal ACR is certainly not the most refined car around, but the sheer brutality seen in the video makes even the Corvette ZR1 look cushy. Nothing high tech, just the spectacle of man harnessing brute power to do battle with the most challenging race track in the world.

The new Audi R8 GT3 'Customer' Racecar has been announced by Audi Motorsport. The new race car will conform to the FiA GT3 regulations, allowing it to run in many National and some International Series. The car was developed by Audi Sport and is aimed at customer use. Unlike the roadcar, the 500hp race car is rear wheel drive. Four wheel drive is prohibited in the GT3 class. The racecar is quite stunning. The front end has a new hood with air intake and subtly flared fenders. A splitter reduces...

According to a recent post on Autoblog, Honda has been seriously considering the prospect of bringing more of its smaller, Japanese market cars to the United States. As a car enthusiast, it is hard to not be excited about the potential of seeing more cool "JDM" cars available outside of Japan. I'm sure that Honda has been looking at the success of the Fit in the US and is thinking "hey maybe we should try that with other models too". While none of the Honda cars that might make it across the pacific are hardcore performance machines, they still have plenty of potential as platforms for modification. I see these cool JDM-only cars driving around here all the time, and I always think to myself, "Man, that would be cool if they sold that thing back home......

As some of you may or may not know, certain members of our international Speedhunters team are currently traveling through Europe. While we have been keeping ourselves extremely busy tailgating people around the Autobahn, meeting new friends, eating at new places, visiting legendary race tracks, driving cool cars, and searching for drinks that actually have ice in them... We realize that we still have a responsibility to update the site with photos of our adventures. Tonight after dinner, I somehow...

Holden Special Vehicles in Australia have launched a limited production 'W427' based off of the Holden Commodore. Only 427 units of this Corvette Z06 based LS7 powered super-sedan will be produced for the Australian and New Zealand markets. A true modern muscle car, the 427 represents the engine size in cubic inches. In modern 'speak', its 7.0 Litres. Power is just under 500hp with 471 lbs-ft of Torque. This is mated to a six-speed manual gearbox. As with most HSV vehicles, the word...

The London Motor Show kicks off this week and a number of debuts are planned. Although a shadow of its former self, the show is still important due to the large number of cars sold in the UK. Honda OSM Concept Honda say its just a concept, but this 'low-emission' roadster is S2000 size. Much nicer in form than many recent Honda designs. For a concept, its very well resolved and almost ready for Production. It reminds me of the Lotus Elan from 1989. Most obvious if you compare the image above...

Months, years, almost decades (well, it feels like it!) after the concept was shown, the Production Chevrolet Camaro has finally been announced. The 5th Generation Camaro is very close to the concept shown in 2006, which was inspired by the classic 60's Camaro. The front end has received a few changes. The lights and grille have been redesigned, while the concept's air intake above the main grille has been deleted. Rumours are, it will reappear on a high performance version. The side profile...

Who needs the SLR? Mercedes and AMG announced the latest in the 'Black' series yesterday, the SL65 Black. Following our post last month on the forthcoming Ford Focus RS, Ford have now released images and basic information of the new model, which will make its world debut later this month at The London Motor Show. The car will go on sale in Europe in early 2009 with other markets following. This Focus will not be available in North America. Compared to the standard 'C302 ' (non-North American) 3 door Focus, the visual features include a aggressive bopdykit, wider wheel arches, large rear diffuser...
