I'm going to travel back in time to about two months ago in the middle of September. From my win at Irwindale, my excitement overcame me when writing my last blog and I had to share that with you all, instead of what I should have been writing about - which was a week of real-life Speedhunting. During SEMA 2007, I walked into a sushi place at the Hard Rock hotel when I ran into Shawn Crawford from my sponsor JE Pistons. Shawn introduced me to a gentleman by the name of Karl Fredrickson who is...

Speedhunter Vaughn Gittin Jr. just sent us a small teaser photo of his new 2010 Mustang drift car that he will be driving next year. The teaser may not reveal a whole lot, but it won't be too much longer until the full car is revealed next week on live Speed TV ahead of the car's official debut at the LA Auto Show. To see the car on Speed, November 18 at 8pm PST/ 11pm EST will be the time to tune in . I think it's pretty cool that the drift version of the car will debut ahead of the street car and can't wait to see what the finished product looks like....

As I write this, I am reliving my victory three weeks ago at Irwindale Speedway during the final round of Formula Drift, firstly I just want to say WOOOOOOHOOOYAAAA!!!! For me this victory was long awaited and well deserved if I don't say so myself. I've won two prestigious drifting events in the past: the 2005 D1GP USA vs. Japan and the 2007 D1GP World Championship. But I have yet to taste the glory and stand on the top of the podium in a Formula Drift event. The final round of FD proved...

Love it or hate it, the Ford Mustang is an automotive icon and the original pony car has been a favorite among enthusiasts ever since its introduction in the mid '60s. After its Carroll Shelby and Steve McQueen "glory days", the Mustang was reduced to a shadow of its former self with the Mustang II of the '70s. By the mid '80s the Mustang had regained some of what made the original cars great with the introduction of the famous Fox body 5.0. The 5.0 'Stangs became the car to have in the '80s, and the potential of the EFI 5.0 engines made them one of the most popular "tuner" cars ever. The original 5.0 Mustangs are now over 20 years old, but they continue to be one of the best "bang for the buck" vehicles on the used car market in the USA. The 5.0 has already been established as a great platform for drag racing and even road racing, but what about drifting?...

Thanks to one of my blogging buddies at Alien2nrs who lives in Finland we can see some of the cars that were present during the X-Treme Car Show in Helsinki. The Skyline R32 in the opening picture is his car. It was build by Bee*R in Japan and is one of a few cars outside Japan that wears the original bodykit. The graphics aren't there to please everybody but you gotta make your sponsors proud. The Event organizer X-Treme is an organization that hosts various car related events in Finland and...

It has been a crazy last couple of months for me; I'm going to refrain from putting everything into this one blog of mine. After all, I don't want to take up the entire Speedhunters site with my blog, now do I? For this blog, I am going to talk about my Bosch Performance Art shoot in which I got the opportunity to drift the Streets of Los Angeles and also my trip to Detroit to the Ford Headquarters, the Woodward Dream Cruise, and the Bill Ford Museum. A couple months back, I was on a conference...

There a few things better than spending a weekend hanging out with fellow enthusiasts, talking about cars, and just enjoying the hobby in general. This is exactly what happened last weekend at the meet that was hosted by our friends at Retro Scene Magazine in the UK. The UK has a thriving classic car scene, and I must say that it looks quite different from anything I have seen in the states. In the US everyone is sort of divided into their own "scenes" and there is little interaction between them. The UK "retro" scene is much different, and at the meet you could find everything from vintage air and water-cooled VW's, to classic Japanese cars, to UK market Fords, and even classic American cars. That is the most impressive thing to me about this meet, people with all sorts of cars coming together to celebrate the love of vintage machinery....

The RS Owners club held their annual National Day last weekend at the new home of the British Grand Prix, Donington Park As European Speedhunters will know, the RS brand has been associated with Ford Rally inspired performance products since 1970. The RS brand has come and gone during that time as Ford changed their road, race and rally programs, but the RS brand returns to the showroom in 2009 with the new Focus RS. The Owners club has a great forum and I found some great images by member, Fiddy...

A few weeks ago I was invited out to X Games 14 by my friend and rally driver Ken Block. He had mentioned he would like me to be an extra set of eyes as well as his technical advisor, not to mention I doubled as his "party sub" since he had to skip out on all the festivities until the weekend was over in order to perform at 110%. Even though I have an already insane schedule this month, how could I resist this opportunity?...

The London Motor Show kicks off this week and a number of debuts are planned. Although a shadow of its former self, the show is still important due to the large number of cars sold in the UK. Honda OSM Concept Honda say its just a concept, but this 'low-emission' roadster is S2000 size. Much nicer in form than many recent Honda designs. For a concept, its very well resolved and almost ready for Production. It reminds me of the Lotus Elan from 1989. Most obvious if you compare the image above...

The Rudskogen Motorsenter was under the spotlight when Gatebil organized one of their biggest shows on Norway's soil. The idea behind Gatebil is simple, choose a track, invite a lot of drivers and cars from around Europe and voila we have ourselves a event. In Europe a lot of shows hire drifters or special cars to perform, but with Gatebil it's the other way around. People want to come there and show the people what they got. My guess is it's because of the girls... Norway is famous for their gorgeous women.
But of course the main attraction for us guys are the cars, right? One of the cars that got my attention was the Audi you see in the picture above. It really has the biggest spoiler I have ever seen....

Following our post last month on the forthcoming Ford Focus RS, Ford have now released images and basic information of the new model, which will make its world debut later this month at The London Motor Show. The car will go on sale in Europe in early 2009 with other markets following. This Focus will not be available in North America. Compared to the standard 'C302 ' (non-North American) 3 door Focus, the visual features include a aggressive bopdykit, wider wheel arches, large rear diffuser...

WARNING!!! This should not be read by those with a weak stomach!!! I have been waiting for a long time to publicly tell this story and share this build to the world. Out of respect for my friends at Super Street and unwritten industry laws, I had to wait for the feature to be released before I could spill the beans. For those of you that haven't gotten the July 2008 issue of Super Street, pick it up and check out the story on my S14 - it has a bit happier ending than the following story! I bought...

Ford Europe have released two 'teaser' images (Black car) of the forthcoming Ford Focus RS, testing at the Nurburgring. This comes just after Car Tribes released images which it claimed to be the new Focus RS. It does seem, to match! According to Car Tribe, it will be powered by a 2.5 Litre engine, 280 bhp and front wheel drive. 0-60 in around 5.7 seconds. The car will only be available in 3 door. Unfortunately, this model will be limited to certain markets that already get the 'C302'...

I guess after reading Rod's WRC Italy post, I also got into that rally state of mind. These photos come from Flickr member SIDC Spooks and were taken at this weekend's Jim Clark rally in Scotland. High powered rally cars sliding around the beautiful Scottish countryside sure does make for some very dramatic scenes. Of course the fantastic photography doesn't hurt either. I absolutely LOVE this photograph even though it looks like it may have come at the cost of a mouthful of dirt for...

As we wrap up our coverage of the 2008 Tokyo Special Import Car Show, I wanted to show just a little more of the craziness that went down at the Makuhari Messe this weekend during the event. Like I have probably mentioned before, I really admire the Japanese attention to authenticity when it comes to car building. From what I have seen, Japanese people seem live and breathe for their hobbies, and cars are no exception. When looking at the tuned European cars, I felt I like I could have been at one...
