News>> Rod Millen To Compete At Pikes Peak

Rod Millen, one of the Pikes Peak Hill Climb’s living legends, will once again return to compete at the second oldest motorsports race but this time in the Time Attack 2WD class. He will be driving his son's, Rhys Millen, Hyundai Genesis Coupe with the target to once again set a record on that famous mountain.

Rhys' 2009 two-wheel drive record of 12:09, which was achieved with his Hyundai Genesis drift car, was broken last year by Jeff Zwart in a Porsche cup car with a time of 11:31. Rod Millen is looking to break the record once again this year.

With Rhys back in the unlimited classed Hyundai Genesis RMR PM580 and Nobuhiro 'Monster' Tajima back in his hill climb Suzuki Swift, this year's Pikes Peak event is shaping up to something to definitely look forward to.

I've never been to Pike's Peak (Things to do Before You Die, guys?), but I've been told they're paving over more portions of the track every year, and that all these records being broken can be attributed to the increasing amount of tarmac. Is that true? Somebody fill me in.

Father and son combo...

Why doesn't Rod just update his two crazy yellow Toyota's? I bet those two old car's would still hurt the newer car's feelings.

We should see sub 10 minute times this year with the addition of more tarmac on the course. Wowooowowowowowooooo

wouldn't it be more appropriate if Rod drove the RMR PM580 and Rhys drove his Genesis? Why put the more skilled and experienced driver in the slower car?

@Datsoon.....the race is NOT getting easier because of the added sections of tarmac. If anything its making the race even more of a challenge with teams having to adapt and the road not being quite as wide. Also if any moisture such as rain or snow gets on the pavement, it makes for an interesting race.

....and its Tajima's Suzuki SX4. ;)

you're forgeting about the Dacia. Renault put a lot of money into it. I think it just might take the Unlimited class
