This Week’s Video Round-Up

With a new week (and month) of Speedhunting ready to kick off, it’s time to take a quick look at some of our favorite videos from the past seven days.

Let’s kick things off with a new clip from GoPro featuring Mattias Ekström and his Audi S1 EKS RX Quattro…

Ahead of the 2016 FIA World Rallycross Championship, which kicked off last month in Portugal, Mattias took to a frozen lake in Sweden and put his 600hp, all-wheel drive Supercar class machine to the test; GoPro was there to capture it all.

Next up, it’s a new clip from Porsche in which a special restoration project is announced. This summer, the 924 turns 40 years old, and to mark the occasion a previously unrestored race car that competed (and completed) the 1980 24 Hours of Le Mans is seeing some much-needed love. Porsche Cars GB is spearheading the rebuild of 924 GTP 002, which for over three-and-a-half decades has remained untouched.

Although he’s an established name in the world of professional drifting, 2016 marks the first full season of Formula Drift Pro competition for ‘Mad Mike’ Whiddett. Despite not getting the result he wanted at the first round in Long Beach, California, a few weeks back, the Kiwi drifter is gunning for solid performances throughout the remainder of the season – he’s definitely got the hardware for the job in his Gen 2 RADBUL MX-5. His official video from FD R1 is a pretty slick production, which you can check out by hitting play above.

Finally this week we have Toyo Tires’ video from the recent AutoCon Los Angeles event, held at the LA Convention Center. Look out for more than a few fresh builds in this nicely shot and edited clip, plus the familiar creations of our very own .

As always, if you’ve caught a cool video in the last week, go ahead and share it in the comments section below!

Mike's beadlockers are genius. I want the final battle this year to be him and Forrest.

They shouldnt Restore that 924. Keep it as is in the museum which will make it more interesting . The wear and tear of the car shows, the energy, skill, endurance, stride, technology, pain and passion of what a race car driver and car gows through of these prestigious races. When you restore, the story disappears, and you cant imagine what might of happened or what the driver might of went through. But whatever.....

Porsche continue using their old cars, so the 924 story isn't over yet!

bluestreaksti Beadlocks are forbidden in FD. Those are just a show piece, they dont actually lock the tire :/ I know, I know, I was sad when I found out too.

It's being sympathetically restored. It will be used again at Le Mans Classic this June. Cars are for driving, not museum prices.

QuattrogroupB Go and watch a historics race. You'll see that restoring a vintage race car is the only way to go. Seeing them on the track in action is the wildest thing you'll ever see in motor sports.

Any Wekfest coverage coming?

D1RGE bluestreaksti Is there any background as to why they are forbidden? Curious now.
