A couple of weeks back Mad Mike Whiddett gave us a tour around the racing machine that provided the inspiration for his manic 4-rotor engine builds – Mazda’s Le Mans-winning 787B. But that wasn’t the only world-famous race car he got up close and personal with at last year’s Goodwood Festival of Speed, and in a new video from Speedhunters filmmaker Jason Laroza, Mike checks out Richard ‘The King’ Petty’s legendary Plymouth Superbird.
As far as NASCAR royalty goes, Petty is right up there at the top having won 200 races and seven championships during his amazing career. For the 1970 season, he got behind the wheel of a then new Superbird, and another blue #43 legend was created.

OH -- -- and that toilet bowl intake on the Hemi engine you see at 2:07 is pretty much worth everything you and I will make in are entire lifetimes
Dinoco!
As an Asian kid, my first exposure to the world of NASCAR was through the NASCAR Racing 3 videgame. It was all rather boring, given how each car looks the same.
That was until I tried NASCAR Legends, which introduced me to this amazing bewinged #43. Since then it has become my favourite NASCAR machine of all time.
Funy how the younger generation say "Dinoco!" when they see this car, but when us "older" people saw Cars, we said "Petty!!"
Either way, Cars is one of the best movies ever. This car here is 10000000% American racing royalty.
