Scion Tuner Challenge 2014:</br> 3 Teams, 3 Cars, 2 Months To Reveal…

This time last month we revealed that Speedhunters would be taking part in the 10th annual Scion Tuner Challenge, and going head-to-head with GT Channel and Super Street in a media outlet face-off. Well, since then the team leads have each received their base for the build – a Scion FR-S Release Series 1.0 – and the transformations from stock standard to SEMA-worthy have begun. Or at least our car’s transformation has, judging by this new clip from Scion…

If you think a body kit, some wheels and a few accessories is all it takes to win this contest, then think again. As the 2013 Scion Tuner Challenge SEMA Show Finale video shows, Speedhunters’ Technical Editor, Keith Charvonia – along with Designer Andy Blackmore – will need to pull out all the stops if we’re going to taste glory at the Las Vegas Convention Center in November. Given what these guys have individually achieved in the past though, we know the build is in very good hands.

KeithCharvonia hasn't been answering my calls, but I'm sure it's because he's busy jacking it up and fitting some 37in off road tyres and warehouse full of KC Daylighters, not forgetting the external cage and twin turbo flat six conversion.

Probably.

Speedhunters_Bryn KeithCharvonia Why stop there, you can jack it to the sky and add a spare tire holder where the rear window should be.

After watching last years video I think the statement "If you think a body kit, some wheels and a few accessories is all it takes to win this contest, then think again" encompasses exactly what it takes to win. Those car builds were very mild. Sure two of them turbo'd the car but otherwise it was simple visual stuff like wheels and accents.

Speedhunters_Bryn KeithCharvonia  Phaw!  Here's hoping he shelves the turbos in favor of a flat six running itb's with 8" stacks popping through the hood!

LouisYio So true! although they may go really original and put an LS motor in it. HAHA

It's infinitely amusing to see three of my friends building cars "against" each other. I wish everyone the best of luck and can't wait to see what everyone comes up with!

twin motor. They are gonna put a flat four in the rear and have it drive the front wheels! :-D

Speedhunters_Bryn KeithCharvonia Project Big Oly. I did say unpredictable, right?

15

Speedyquest If speedhunters has taught me anything it's that a "body kit, some wheels, and a few accessories" should be easily enough to win this, right? I mean somehow TRA_Kyoto and Liberty Walk seem to get away with this same thing over and over.

good luck speedhunters!!! just please dont put a rocket bunny kit with some vossens or something on it...! :p

if it were me, id put on some stage two turbo boosters, a motec systems exhaust, NOS, graphics from Modern Image, a Street Fighter 2 Alpha body kit, and some Focal wheels. but thats me, im not afraid to double clutch.
