With cars like the new Camaro Z/28 and Dodge’s ridiculous 707 horsepower Challenger SRT Hellcat , it’s a good time for fans of modern American muscle cars. With the launch of the new Mustang just around the corner, Ford is also planning to dive right back into the fray with hot versions of the new pony. This video clip from Road & Track shows the upcoming 2016 Shelby GT350R testing at the Nürburgring. Rather than the horsepower monster that is the Hellcat, the GT350R will be the athletic, track-friendly replacement of the previous generation Boss 302.
The word is that it’s going to make about 500 naturally aspirated horsepower, and if this video is anything to go by the pony car wars are about to get even more interesting.

A friend (Scott Paterson) and I were there at the Ring yesterday and caught them testing the car... SOUNDS AMAZING! Video doesn't do it justice! And it went like stink. This is awesome.
Hopefully, with the new global Mustang, we'll see this Shelby version in OZ.

Sidenote, kinda digging the camo they're using on it, with those headlights it ironically reminds me of a snake (viper).
Sounds awesome, but these new mustangs just look fat to me, like they've got so much power to just push around that massive front end

@Kaku Good news! This is the first Mustang that will be offered world wide in all Ford dealerships!
xrockonx Believe it or not, they also somehow weigh about 100 pounds more than the 2014 models. I like the path SVT is taking with what they got, but Ford is butchering the Mustang. Looks like an economy sedan, weighs more,no significant increase in power, etc.
